Carol Uren

Just as a way of a brief introduction, like many others I knew from the age of 5 that I was somehow different, and that there was a conflict going on inside of me.  However it wasn't until 1952 when the Christine Jorgensen story made headlines around the world that I fully realised what that conflict really was and that I had been born with the wrong body parts.
I am one of the older TS's here.  I transitioned way back in 1975 and had my SRS done at Charing Cross Hospital in London in 1979 and since then that terrible conflict has completely disappeared and for almost 40 years now I have lived a happy and contented life as me, a complete and whole person.  For a fuller account of how I managed my transition, I have written a very much abridged life story in my blog at:-

Hi Carol,
An enormous Aussie welcome to Susan's family. Thank you so very much for dropping in. I hope you stay for a while, as you must have a lot to tell of your journey. Thank you for sharing that short introduction, I'm inspired already.

I'm interested to know how you survived your transition back then. Support for this community would have been fairly remote as no one really knew a lot about Transgender then, let alone the infantile state of the internet at that time. That would have been in the time of the highly questionable Bulletin Boards.

Look forward to hearing more of your journey in the time to come. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine
