So I had orientation today at walmart but before that I had a drug test. I didn't mark the gender on the drug test or the form for new patients, because I hadn't been to that clinic before. Anywhos, no one corrected it or said anything about it.

For lockers the women's I guess are crappy but they have there own locker and the men's are nice but they have locker buddies. I look down and I have a locker buddy and everyone had referred to me with male pronouns. My name is legally changed btw. It's a smallish town and not to excepting of transfolk.

We had to have 2 forms of I.D. the ones I gave didn't have gender markers.

My question is: They did a background check so wouldn't that show that I am biologically female? What about my SSN, that would also show it to, right? What about my drug test, I'm on T so I'm sure the testosterone was within normal male range but compared to a biofemale it would show I was abusing steroids, would they have just marked male or what?

Either way I'm really glad that everything is all cool and that I don't have to explain the whole trans thing.

Well as long as you have a prescription for testosterone, it doesn't matter what they mark on your drug test. If they mark female, and you show proof that you are supposed to be taking testosterone, I doubt that you can get in any trouble. Oh, and they don't test that sort of stuff on drug tests anyway. Women pee for men and vice versa for eachother all the time when the one whom is administered the test is on drugs.  Also, as a huge corporation, walmart can get in a great deal of trouble if you are discriminated against based on your gender identity.  If it comes up, be honest, and ask that your manager keeps it to his/herself due to the un-accepting nature of the individuals in your town.

Yeah, Wal-Mart just added gender expression and gender identity to their anti-discrimination policy this past September.  So if you have any problems with the store manager don't be afraid to go up the ladder above his head.  If you have any questions feel free to ask me.  I work at Wal-Mart, in a small town actually, and I have two friends who are trans men who work at Wal-Marts in different parts of the state.

I live in Alabama by the way, which has no anti-discrimination policies for trans people, but Wal-Mart has to follow their in-company policies.  That policy is actually why I was able to start using the men's room, in October, 8 months after I'd initially started presenting as male there.

I think rather than that say because it's personal medical history that is not pertinent to your job and should thus be private.
