Sorry if this is a ridic question but it just came to mind today after talking to my uncle. anyway he brought up something about me being talented in design and good at basketball then followed with you gotta think about the consequences..this is a big decision..a lot will change..so it got me thinking once i start t will it somehow, somewhat affect or change (for the worse) the talents I have now?

Edit: should have said physical/athletic skills

T affects everyone differently, but I see absolutely no reason why it would affect skills or talents you already have.  You're either good at doing something or you're not.  You either have a skill or you don't.  The only things that T MIGHT affect are your ability to focus/concentrate, stamina, patience, etc.  Even these are speculative as not all guys experience problems or changes in these areas.

Yeah, the answer is no. Unless your skill happens to be athletic-based, then T will probably just make that better.

This pretty much.  I haven't heard of anyone's talent(s) getting worse on T.  Sometimes better if it's athletic.  Sometimes if you're depressed pre-T, talents can improve as your mood (likely) improves on T.  The only thing I can think of that might worsen is singing ability.  But there are plenty of guys who retrain their voices and stay great singers.

Cool guys thanks. Yup simple no works fine lol. Yea exactly what I wanted to know if athletic skills will worsen upon taking t. That's good to know. Thanks

Singing will change and could not work in the short term. If you write depressing music or poetry that might change.

if you mean like painting and such then I havent felt any diffrence.
I use to draw/play music, paint, writte storys, and so on and havent felt much diffrent.

maybe alittle in my story telling but it could also be infected by other facts, ex that im very busy and dont really have the time to writte storys as I used too.

... Would a simple "no" suffice?
I also agree that this is sort of ridiculous.

I'd also like to add it sort of seems as if your uncle may have a slight persuasion on convincing you that you're adequate enough without testosterone and that you don't need it to feel good about yourself. This would mean he probably doesn't understand entirely while you feel the need for HRT - the reason for me is that I didn't even feel like I was supposed to without it...like I was trapped in some unrecognizable shell. I don't know if you feel the same, but still.
Meow.

I wrote depressing music and poetry pre-T and still write depressing music and poetry 11 months on T. ;)

I agree with what's been said. As a singer, my talent hasn't decreased, but my ability has changed. And I'm fine with that, because I love my new voice even more than I did my old one.

T has definitely affected my work. I'm in the counseling field and am finding that I'm connecting much more with adolescent males over females. I was very gender studies focused earlier on in school, very female-oriented and now not being able to see women in some crisis situations is confusing (since males are often triggering in domestic violence cases). I still see women of course but it's different now, our gender difference is magnified. It's taken some getting used to. But I'm really enjoying working more with young men... the difficulty comes though when they expect me to have had the same gendered experience growing up. It gets interesting for sure.

You might be able to throw a ball farther/harder but unless you had b-ball skills before taking T you won't have them after unless you actively work on it.

I went through a phase of having extra difficulty to concentrate (choppy thoughts, loosing track, no patience to do anything for more than 5 min even if it was just watching something), but that was over quickly enough.

It has affected my talents and skills quite a bit, but I can't say I'm really better or worse at anything, just different.

It hasn't given me mad skills at sports, but I do have more confidence and I'm less self conscious so I'm able to get in the game more than I was pre-T. I'm just not as uncomfortable as I was pre-t, partly because physically I'm either up to par, or better than most of the guys that I play with at school as a result of the muscle growth from T.
Err I hope that made sense. . .

I hope the animals I work with don't mind it when I start smelling like a guy.  Some of them really don't like men.  Except for me and my deep camouflage.
"Deep camouflage" is a great way to put it. ;D
