A transgendered Miss Universe Canada finalist, Jenna Talackova, of Vancouver, has been disqualified from the competition from the contest's website.

Vancouver Observer blogger Bianca Pencz blogs that Talackova's profile was visible on the official contestants page of the Donald Trump-owned Miss Universe Canada beauty pageant just a few days ago.

"Now, her profile has disappeared without a trace. Is it a coincidence that she was their only transsexual finalist?"

Talackova, who is from Vancouver, was born male. She realized she was actually female when she was four years-old, began hormone therapy when she was 14, and had sex reassignment surgery in 2010

I was just about to post this, too. Honestly, I don't really know how to react.

A transgender beauty queen who was kicked out of the Miss Universe Canada pageant says she is a victim of discrimination.

Vancouver resident Jenna Talackova was one of 65 finalists to take part in the beauty contest, but was disqualified earlier this week after it was discovered she had undergone sexual reassignment surgery.

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

She is definitely drop-dead gorgeous! I was listening to a couple of cis talking heads who were wishing that they looked as terrific as she does. I hear that she's going to file a suit to be included in the contest, good for her because she will be speaking for all of us!

QuoteDenis Davila, the national director of Miss Universe Canada, says she was dropped from the competition because the rules state contestants must be "naturally born female" and that she lied on her application.

Hmm, okay.

Someone show me there where it says that an entrant has to be born naturally female. Because either I'm blind or it doesn't.

The only thing I can find, and this is even stated on the entry forms themselves, is that an entrant should not be married or have children. Nowhere does it say that an entrant has to have been born naturally female, as Mr Davila claims. The only thing I can find on the entry forms that even relates to birth, other than the date, is the location.

...

The most ironic thing of all is that considering this is supposed to be an event that values 'beauty'... all I can say is that jealousy is such an ugly emotion. ::)

I was watching a couple of female talking heads on of all places the Bill O'Reilly show on Fox. He had presented this in a very thoughtful way without any smirks or the usual nasty stuff. The two cis women, one conservative and the other liberal had a rather thoughtful discussion. The conservative woman commented that she was jealous of the contestant's to-die-for looks. The liberal woman brought up the fact that the contestant may have felt that she was in fact born a woman and had SRS to make her fully congruent physically with who she really is. And that this should be considered. Obviously if she proceeds with a lawsuit, it may well come out and in all fairness should become a legitimate consideration so that future contestants shouldn't have to go through such scrutiny. We can only hope!

I just watched tonight's "20/20" interview with Barbara Walters and Jenna, typical vanilla interview but it was so nice to see Jenna and her mother keep their composure, I think Trump wanted to avoid negative press as well as I'm sure he realized he would not win any case against her as the rules are written now...in fact he admitted he would leave the pageant open to transgender contestants in the future.

There were parts of the story I did not care for of course, but I will keep those comments to myself ;)

Trump to Allow All Trans Women to Compete in Miss Universe
By Neal Broverman

http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2012/04/10/Trump_to_Allow_All_Trans_Women_to_Compete_in_Miss_Universe/

Thanks to the urging of GLAAD, Donald Trump's Miss Universe organization is in the process of changing their rules to allow transgender women to compete for the crown.

The new policy comes after transgender contestant Jenna Talackova sued after being disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada contest. Talackova was later allowed to compete by Miss Universe officials. And starting in the fall of 2013, all transgender women will be allowed in the global competition.
