TORONTO – A transgender beauty queen who was ousted from the Miss Universe Canada pageant will get to compete after all — so long as she can prove she's a she.

Jenna Talackova, 23, will be allowed to strut the Miss Universe Canada stage with the other 60 finalists, the pageant owned by mogul Donald Trump has decided.

"The Miss Universe organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions," reads a statement by Trump headquarters in New York City.

"Legal requirements..." meaning having had SRS, right?

I think that be one thing... next in line of equality all ggs will then also have their privates check?
Well come to the next beauty pageants...

One gold star to Mr. Trump!  It is nice to see some of us really pass!  However:
In another vein to the pageant scene, I remember there was a tanning contest sponsored by a certain tanning lotion company in SoCal in the 60's and 70's that was open to 'Caucasian' women only.  That pagent went on for years without nary a buzz until a few naturally light skinned Hispanic (Latin American) women entered the contest and started winning the prizes.  There was an uproar from the women of European descent over the ruling that said the these Hispanic women were Caucasian, even though they are a mix of mainly Spanish, German and Mesoamerican (various southern Indian tribes including Inca, Aztec, Mayan, Yaqui, Mosquito, etc.).  This uproar made it to the Ann Landers column, but the Euro-descent people didn't get much support from her either.
They had the contest for a few years after that then it had lost the fan base due to that decision plus the growing concerns about skin cancer and aging.  This may happen here when the ciswomen lose the interest in these pageants.

This wasn't the first time a transgender woman was disqualified from the Miss Universe Pageant, why's her case taking notice?

Weeeeeeeell, they actual CHECK the pope having male plumbing - still do! Believe it or not.

The reason? There was one pope, that gave birth during a procession quite some time back - so now one has learned, hasn't one.
To have a dangle is one of the last qualifiers that are checked before his election is confirmed.
Trans man in waiting for the post aught to take note... bottom surgery be a MUST if wanting to qualify. Just like (I guess) it be the case at those female beauty pageants, hum.

Jenna Talackova: Will She Compete?

By Stephen M. Silverman
Monday April 02, 2012 09:50 PM EDT

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20584007,00.html

Reversing its position of last week, when it denied transgender contestant Jenna Talackova from competing, organizers of the Miss Universe pageant have now said she may walk down its runway, with certain provisos.

And it still remains to be seen if she will.

"The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions," Michael D. Cohen, executive vice president and special counsel to Donald Trump, who owns the competition, said in an e-mailed statement Monday evening.

Talackova, a transgender beauty queen who was dropped from the Miss Universe Canada competition by pageant representatives, has been given the green light to go by the Donald Trump-led Miss Universe Organization. (Reuters) - Businessman Donald Trump has overturned a decision by the Miss Universe Organization, which he owns, to disqualify a Canadian transgender beauty pageant contestant because she was not a "naturally born" female.

Jenna Talackova, a tall blonde who underwent gender-reassignment surgery at age 19 and holds legal documents affirming her identity as a woman, wants pageant organizers to go further and drop eligibility rules she calls discriminatory.

That may have something to due with the legend of "Pope Joan."
