So... I'm heading to Key West this summer for a couple of weeks. I've never been, but I hear it's a very accepting place. I plan on presenting as female during my trip there. Are there certain places I should avoid? PLaces to go? ANy LGBT friendly hotels you can recommend? Bars? I'll be traveling solo and want to stay safe.

Kidding?
That's gay central of FL.
You'll be fine.

Ditto what Joey said.

I'm not sure that there could be a MORE gay friendly place.

Provincetown, RI is similarly a LGBT mecca.

Enjoy your trip!!

Well, there are plenty of places in florida to avoid, but while it has been some time since i was there I don't recall any part of key west that made me think it was one of them.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

Been there, done that place twice.  There is a large gay presence on Duval Street along with the lot of other Papa Hemingway type things going on in that place.  You'll be in the Conch Republic, Mile Zero territory.  The busiest time for Key West?  February.  The weather is nicer in Feb. with some drying from fronts from the mainland.  A lot of retirees visit and spend some money there before the spring breakers arrive.  Summers are more humid there, but this is a good time for the younger set.  Temp highs mainly in the 80's year 'round due to the surrounding warm waters.  I don't know of any unaccepting place there.  Have fun!  Enjoy the sunset like the locals do!  If you are driving, enjoy the other keys as well.

I didn't realize that.  I always thought Miami would be the gay Florida place for some reason. I actually don't know much about Florida.

I'm quite familiar with Provincetown, love it there!. I go there at least 3-4 times a year, sometimes more whenI can find decent hotel deals.
By the way, Provincetown is in MA, RI has Providence.
