So I'm on this birth control for one reason, to lighten my period or to stop it.

And what happens?  I bleed for the past 8-ish days.  I didn't even do it that long when I wasn't taking anything!   This is absolutely ridiculous.   

I've been on the ->-bleeped-<-ing pills for about 5 or so months..   

D:  on top of that, I feel like ->-bleeped-<-

Idk what kind of b control you're on but before starting T I was on the depo.

The nurse who administered my depo shot had told me to expect an irregular cycle which is what I got. I also felt even worse on it then before on occasion.

Even though that was my experience w/the shot, I have relatives who had their bleeding lessen or stop altogether.

Sorry if this didn't help, just thought I'd share my experience w/b control.

I have heard of some students at my university who take it to lessen the bleeding. I've heard of several individuals doing this so I'd assume it is helpful to an extent for them; sorry to hear it's not yielding the results you are looking for
Is there anything else your health care provider can do until you can find a more permanent solution than b control?

I was allergic to the pill because my body can't handle high levels of estrogen (i lol'd at the irony)

I REALLY REALLY think you should talk to your doc ASAP about this and get put on a birth control that isn't estrogen based.


I'm on a needle Depo Ralovera and i get it once every 3 months and it stops my period completely - though if you ever wanna get preggo one day, i wouldn't go with that one  (sorry you had a ->-bleeped-<- experience with it Cal)

I have endometriosis and I cannot live my life without the pills, no other drug has worked so far. Would give anything to have it all torn out instead, but no one has approved that since I'm too young to apparently decide if I want to have kids at the local clinics that take my insurance.

Kody - Sometimes it takes longer than 5 months to start working properly. I started on it as a young teen and adjusted very quickly to it, but a lot of people I know who started taking it when they were in their late teens or twenties actually got worse on the pill for up to a year before it evened out for them. I agree with Kyyn though. I'm going to try talking to my doctor about non-estrogen-based pills on my next visit too. Good luck

I'm gay. I sleep with guys. Sometimes they use that hole - though we have other names for it.
Getting pregnant would destroy me mentally.

I have the same reason, I personally dont take birth controll right now, have enough in condoms and play safe,
but I really hate my period and want it too stop and if it dosent stop on T then I might start using it.

another point I could imaginate myself to do so is because I cant get Hysterectomy surgery anytime soon.
If I where able to get that then I would do so, but I would have to travel to another country to do so,
or I would have to wait at least 6 years..

I got my tubes tied, but it took years to convince a doctor to do it. I started asking at least once a year when I was 14, and was told over and over I was too young. Finally at 29 they stopped saying that.

This is more related to FTM's on birth control, but is the birth control pill more 'effective' at preventing pregnancy than a condom? I don't know what actually happens to the body that prevents conception taking place.
If someone is on the pill do they think they don't have to use condoms as well? With the increasing rate of STD's passing around that's always confused me a bit.

Even after I was sure of my identity several years ago, I still put myself on birth control. It wasn't an easy choice to make, but it was either the pill or another 26 day long red death. I was not willing to bleed for that long again, considering it had been the second time that had happened to me. For some people, they take b/c until they can get on T because having the period is more dysphoria inducing than the hormones.

26 days?! In a row? I can't even...dude that is terrible. I've had 10 days but 20+, that's insane. Glad the pills at least helped some with it.

When I got pregnant I was using a condom but no birth control. When I was on birth control I also used condoms.

Hmm... I'm extremely allergic to condoms. Not the latex, its something they put in the lube.

And on the pill my body was actually mutating physically because I'm allergic to the estrogen...  -___-;
But off it, I go through 5 maternity pads a day, for a week and I'm at risk of pregnancy.

So it's the shot for me at the moment and (since i've been on the pill since i was 13) I feel better right now then I have ever felt before.
