I say this with respect to others opinions, but I doubt Boris Johnson is thick at all.
Arrogant, contemptuous, possibly paranoid.
He represents a significant section of the Tory party that views the masses as a bit troublesum but can be managed with the right incentives and a bit of flannel.
I've dealt with such people in local government. You can walk into a meeting with them, all the evidence and argument in the world. After an hour, you come out offering them your trousers. The English upper classes survive because everyone underestimates them.
I don't know about Trump but to suggest he could be as successful as he is without a lot of flannel, is just bitter. I suspect that the very wealthy in the US are basically emulating the English upper classes. I did meet a few of these types, once when I was working in France in the 70s.
I think they are what J Edgar Hoover referred to as Ivy Leaguers. But again, I may be wrong. Whatever, these people how how to manipulate.
Ken Livingstone is a different matter altogether. He is very single minded, psychopathic and very intelegent. That is the only explanation for the Torys using Johnson to defeat him.
I do think Jenna needs to cut and run now. She's won. If she doesn't take control of her next step, she will loose.
