A former millionaire businessman is spending £120,000 in a bid to become a woman - including £4,000 on finishing school so he refine his feminine manner.

Darren Hallett, 41, who is now known as Danielle, was five-years-old when he realised he was trapped inside the wrong body, and in 2001 medics diagnosed him as transgender.

For the last 18 months she has attended a finishing school every month, costing between £600 and £1,000 a session, learning ladylike skills such as getting out of a car gracefully.

Danielle - who is due to undergo full sex-change surgery next year - said: 'Spending this much money doesn't bother me. It's cheaper than a car.
