But so few actually discuss that little thing called a "life" that surrounds it?

Unless discussing the finer points of confessing one's trans-ness to a partner or a one night stand

Folks here approach life in a variety of ways, it will be interesting to see the different replies. Hugs, Devlyn

Maybe because having a vagina is great if it is something you always wanted. Just a thought.  And when they are shiny and new they are not always the easiest things to own.

Julie Wilson

Hmmm...

A lot of food for thought ^_^

I liked the rhymey one especially.

Would be interesting to hear about life after transition but I suppose most people are busy getting on with things.

If I may say so (at Susan's), it is a trans woman thing, - as Nicole also had it.

There are of course those "Vagina Monologues" out somewhere at a theatre near you - but in my experience cis females do NOT have all that much to say about their gear.
Matter of fact ever so many think... "the less I know about it the better... let my gynie take care of that".

It is practically a number one item to out us - if we DO know stuff about our 'stuff'.
I'd gotten more then just one strange look when showing some knowing on that subject.
Clitoris... ouch! Labia, eh what? Minora, majora, oh yeah? Vulva, eh say WHAT? Vaginal introitus... gee doll, was that your major at varsity, say?
Um, something like that.

BTW, the exact same applies to ERT.

Now take care, don't spill the beans... :)

My life is just... my life. I don't know that it's super relevant to anything trans.

What exactly did you want to know?

Honestly something along the lines of "success stories".  People living and loving their lives as their true sexes.

Not being misgendered

Not seeking acceptance or approval...

Not making excuses or explaining themselves.

Just grabbing womanhood or manhood by the horns and giving life a wild ride ^_^ !  Because this section is called, 'Post Operative Life' and that's what I think of when I read 'Post Operative Life'.

If I had one, I'd be talking about it too, like this woman:

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Yeah, on a trans board one would expect "post operative" to refer to something AFTER the OPERATION. And, since The Operation (for MTF) is all about the vagina...well there you go.

If you want talk about the "rest of the story", it'd be best to go to a site where "normal" things are discussed. (But, I bet you'll find a thread or two about "that part" there, also.)

This ^  I was going to mention the last part lol.

If I was an MtF who spent thousands of dollars for my lower bits to be a vagina and everything is working really well down there then you bet I would be talking about it. :D

Once people reach that stage, they often decide they no longer need a support site for a part of their lives they've either put behind them or don't really think about anymore. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least twenty people who could probably go into the minutiae of everyday life in the way you're talking about, but they've all left and are busy getting on with it.

Gosh, so I started to watch this YOUTUBE song about the vj...

That woman is so sexy, not that she has the greatest waistline or flattest tummy, but she is VERY attractive, sexy, hot, gorgeous, well I guess you got it.

Now, that song...
I mentioned earlier about that sense of embarrassment that I came to notice with practically ANY female I know (save tg) when it gets to vjs, --- and PLEASE don't even speak about, mention their OWN!

Guess what?
I feel myself too bloody embarrassed to listen to all of that song. Have I joined their 'club' in feeling to leave "...talk about their (my) vaginae ..." to the experts. I think I do...

So that might just also answer some of your questions...
For some reason, post-SRS at least some of us, are done with the subject and prefer to leave it to the 'experts'.

Do I sound stuck-up or overly conservative?
I just feel embarrassed to go on about "that pearl in my oyster" and God knows what. Not sure I even want to have to learn getting un-embarrassed about it either, you go tell :)

Yea, just a little. LOL...yes, "polite society" does not talk about vj's...nor penises...etc.

That's part of the funny with the video...she and her piano man are obviously in a *fancy* place, on stage yet, and she's singing about all the terms of endearment that women (in private) call their parts.

iirc, the video was an ad for a..."woman's monthly product", sort of like a buttplug but for the front, to prevent leakage.

But, given that we're in a thread called "post op (why do...girls talk about their vagina)", I think we're not in a strict by-the-rules polite society.

So, you probably didn't get to the "downtown dining and entertainment district" phrase?

Ahhh, well, um... errr dear - now what was it we were saying just now... <pinched little smile, lowering voice> ... actually baby oil and steak do not mix THAT well after all, no Dear.

To quote my re-married ex: "I have no idea why anyone would be into the taste of battery acid... now please, may we talk about something else..." <smiles> ;)
