Hello,

Can you give me your thoughts on my plan!

1)  Get referred to therapist and on to HRT
2) Continue presenting as male whilst the HRT does its work and have laser hair removal
3) Have some facial surgery to improve my femininity (I think my face is reasonably feminine, considering people sometimes confuse me for being a women (although I think they may need an eye test  ;) haha
4) Get hair extensions and start presenting as myself.

I hope do all this before I go back to uni, a year come September (well hoping too), to change profession.

and then GRS later......

Thanks

My only concern with your plan is that you mentioned getting FFS.  What i've been reading on here lately is that one should let HRT do it's job for at least two years before making any surgical changes.  That way by that time you may not even need FFS if HRT does it's job and since you think your face is reasonably feminine then it should work in your favor.
Feel the need to ask me something or just want to check out my blog?  Then click below:

i agree with Malachite.

Don't really give a def decision to FFS until you have been on HRT for awhile. I used to think the same thing. HRT changed me enough where I really don't need it.

But other than that, your plan seems nice to me. Its pretty much what I did (for the exception of the FFS part) :)

Thanks for your comments!!

I was hoping to wait for about a year, taking the hormones and then have surgery on my nose and chin/jaw.  I appreciate what you're saying about the hormones changing the face, but it won't change my nose and I feel it won't make much difference with my chin/jaw area.  I need the height of my chin reducing and although my nose would realistically be fine, I am being vain and want to look prettier.

However you may well be right, once the hormones feminise my face I may change my mind.

Plans are good. :)

If you can, leave room for your plans to change. It is sometimes the case that, especially when someone starts HRT, and/or being referred to with their preferred name and correct pronouns in one area of life, that frustration speeds up in other areas. Not always, but often enough.

good plan from what I see.... also, those plans may change slightly when you are working with your therapist... and yes, HRT can soften your facial features... but as with me as well, won't redo my nose!!  lol

But, and this is just my opinion, stay away from hair extensions!  If you're going to grow it out, then be patient and wait.  I went to someone in the production industry (Who does amazing work, and highly recommended) last year and had it done, and while I had them in, I loved them, they did damage my hair, and the breakage was evident.  And this was with a highly qualified person.. (Who also didn't bs me and did tell me that some breakage does occur with extensions, no matter how great the hair or installation is).  While you couldn't really tell in my hair afterwards, I could, and so could my stylist.  Even with my hair in a ponytail, my hair was so much thinner due to the breakage.  Then as it grew, you could tell the difference between the thickness.... blah!   It's been a year since they were out, and my hair is happy and healthy, and feels thick again while in a ponytail.  If you're going to eventually grow your hair out, then just be patient!

You left out THE most important thing, way more important than everything on your list.

Dealing with your voice.

Every list I see posted ignores this and your voice will get you clocked faster than anything.

As far as your chin, I thought my chin would need work but after I got my nose fixed, I'm OK with my chin. It's about "balance".

Voice is major. A few days ago I was sitting at a Sonic and a car hop brought the food out to me. He gave me the food and said "Here you go, maam" he squinted at me for a few seconds and while he said "I mean sir" I said "thank you" with a smile in my girl voice. He then shook his head and said "Yeah, that's right.... maam, thanks!"

A good voice can help you pass when your face is in between leaning on the male side.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

People always confuse my voice for a woman's on the telephone... they always refer to me as a woman and a few times I have been challenged when phoning my bank!!  I.e. you're not ******, you're a woman! So my natural voice is obviously quite feminine... However you are right because I will still work on it!!

Thanks
