I mostly got misgendered during my school years especially middle school especially when I had braids in.  I felt bad about it back then but now looking backing on it I'm glad I did.  I wish it would happen more now.  I'm actually practicing for when it does happen and saying, "no no don't apologize at all, you are good!"

Oh you mean people calling you male? That was pretty much my whole life, save for the times when my parents, teachers, etc. would correct people ... or on the super rare occasion my mom made me dress in girl clothes. I used to really look forward to summer vacations, because my parents would take a month or two off and we'd travel around the country. The "corrections" didn't happen a lot then because we were always in different places and no one knew the real me anyway. When I got to hang out with other kids who were also on vacation, I was never seen as a girl.

Yeah I would have never been able to tell.  You did look more like a boy back then.  :)

I got "mistaken" for a boy a lot, especially on the phone.
everybody's house is haunted

A few times when I was about 14. I dressed like a girl, but my hair and face made people say "boy" and I just rolled with it because I sort of enjoyed it. Hell, I got to use the men's room up until an administrator caught and suspended me for it.

All the time.  It would irritate the heck out of my mom and grandmother.

well, strangers would asume I was a guy when I didnt had anything special female clothes on me.
when I started to have alittle influence in my clothing and refused to wear the most femenine ones, people started to pronouce me "he" untill somebody who knew me would correct them around 7-13.

it pretty much happent untill I hit my teens, as I turned around 14-18 I rarely got any "he" pronouced anymore..

All the time. Whether my hair was long or short, didn't matter (I was a kid in the 70s-80s lol; hair length wasn't a factor) and refused to wear girls' clothing around age 5.

Um.. never.

Except for when I showed my friends my kindergarten picture and they said I looked like a boy.

I got it every once in a while. I think I've always been pretty androgynous with looks, and got the "Are you a boy or a girl" from classmates more than once. I recall one girl in my 7th grade gym class who wouldn't believe I was in the right place (... little did she know lol).

Occasionally.  Especially when I was younger.  I remember dressing up for Halloween in an "army man" costume.  My mom said that when we went door to door, everyone assumed I was a boy.  At the time, my family thought it was funny.

A couple years later we went to Disney World for Christmas.  I was wearing a sweater, jeans, and a cap with my hair pulled back in a ponytail.  One of the workers said something to us and called me a "young man".  I loved it (not knowing why), but again, my family thought it was funny.

As I got older, that happened less and less.  Once, a younger kid asked whether I was a boy or a girl.  I don't think I said anything at all; I was about 11 or 12.  That's all I can remember right now for stuff before I started transitioning.

I remember in 6th grade I went into the girl's bathroom and one girl was scared and then she realized who I was and then she told me that she thought I was a boy.

In 9th grade this boy could refer to me as male to be mean.  He would say things like "just because you look like a man doesn't mean you can cut in front of me (idk why he thought I would do that to begin with >.>).  Another instance was when he was opening the door for two girls (butches to be exact) and while he opening the door for them he said in a very nice voice "ladies, ladies" and when I was walking to the door he mumbled and cut right in front of me implying I was a man I guess.  Some people can be jerks.

Someday, that guy will get what he deserves and that day, we shall sit and watch while eating popcorn (or whatever else you want to eat) ^^

Does misgendering myself count?

My parents have a picture of me when I was 2 or 3.  I was in Hawai'ian colored clothes and I had a natural mohawk growing in.  When I was about 13 or 14 I asked my mom (when I saw the picture), "Who's the boy?" and she replied, "That's you." I started to laugh because I didn't recognize it.

Otherwise, no misgendering occurs.  I'm very feminine in build (DD, obvious waste line, big hips, etc) so someone would have to be blind and deaf to call me male now....which sucks.  Back in high school, I was thinner, but still had extremely noticeable curves.

a lot even before i shaved my head but a lot more after that.

Jeatyn

It happened a lot pre-puberty but then massive chest puppies sprang up and my misgendering days where no more :D

I did however used to hear a lot of "you're such a guy!" "omg women don't do that!" sort of statements, from everyone - who then proceeded to act confused and shocked when I came out as trans because apparently I've always been such a girly girl ::)

I was seen as a boy before puberty a lot actually. 'Cause the first time I ever let my hair grow out was when I was like.. 12ish I think. And that wasn't because I wanted nice long hair but just because I didn't feel like getting a haircut hah.

And even then, I remember when I was about 14, my hair was down a little past my shoulders and these two guys in a car complimented me on my long hair. Not because the hair was so healthy and pretty but because they saw me as a boy with long hair. (skater/metal/punk/rock/sortof type)

Shortly after I turned 15 I got my dreadlocks and since then it's been a bit of both. I didn't 'help' that I refused to wear girls clothing and all my pants and shirts were baggy. ^^
