ByeBye

I pluck my facial hair. If I had $ I would electrolysis until it's all gone.

False! Hair that is killed is killed. One hair is either killed or not killed by a session. It can't be "hurt" and need one more session to be "finished off".
Quote from: MiaOhMya! on April 23, 2012, 11:59:20 AMSo far I've spent about $600 and I have practically no beard left!
Oh my. For all 7 sessions? Are they qualified technicians? Where do you live?

I've spent 2576,59 $ for my treatments... Maybe it's just the lack of competition. Where I live, there is only one trustable business that does laser. Since it's an unlegislated procedure, other places just have aestheticians who could basically have no diploma, and are barely trained to doing laser hair removal at all...

In the US they are required to be associated with a Dr.  The laser place I use is affiliated with a Dr in my PCP's group.

I have spent maybe $800 for facial sessions and recently paid $1000 + $200 for four sessions of eyebrows, underarms, forearms, and chest/breast.

Of course the tech gave a generous discount for the bundling and they also had a 25% gift certificate and another 10% off hair removal packages so the "real" quote was $1750 or something like that.
Blessed Be!

Well, lack of competition + trained professionals does that, I suppose.

Also, I never tried to grow a beard. Though I don't know what the difference is between a normal beard and a "full" one.

But I don't think the nature of my beard does any difference, though... Unless I, say, only had beard in precise areas, like sideburns and chin. After all, the number of zaps for the technician doesn't change.

The price is the same for everyone. Beard combo: Sideburns + upper lips + chin + cheeks + front neck = 3 320 $. Minus discount, plus taxes = 2 576,59 $. However, any subsequent treatment I might need would only cost about 70 $, I think.

What's sad is that if I want to get another part of my body lasered, I don't think they give me a discount since I already had my face done. I haven't asked, but it doesn't look like it. And since they don't even do electrolysis, I can forget about having discounted electrolysis.

Really, living here has its advantages... Though not in laser.

damn that sucks :(. I know a lot of other t girls my age and we sometimes pool our money together to get deals on electrolysis (that way the electrologist gets more funding).

I can't believe these prices of the laser treatment. I was quoted almost 12 grand here in the mid west and it was broke down into certain areas. My hair was to light and now I go for electrolysis every weds @ $50. Per hour.

Guess im the oddball here

after 6 laser treatments still had full facial hair. To me the laser hurt like hell and was very painful especially on upper lip. Cost $794.

i have well over 100+ of electroylsys and let me tell that is working wonders my entire right check is cleared and 50% of my

chin. The electroysys is basically pain free compared to the laser and i far prefer it. Though the $65/hr is steep.

One last though the electrolysys on brows and peranium area made me realize i dont need voice lessons (i can get really high).

And you had to finance it or pay for it up front. I pay by the hour now. I agree it is sad, make it where everyone can afford it

Girl for that kind of money you better be getting lasered so hard that your neighbors become hairless.

In Australia, there are currently no regulations regarding hair removal using laser.  Same with electrolysis iirc.

Given the potential for damage with either, it's a rather shocking state of affairs imho.

Sometimes, even where there's no regulation, there are - facultative - diplomas in these domains, or some sort of in-industry norm. It's less trustable and more of a hassle than real regulation, but perhaps you can look for something like this.

Apologies on the misinformation...the clinic say I must return until all hair is gone, and have occasional touch-ups...I must have misunderstood!

...but oh yes they are qualified and have a beautiful office with a doctor (though I only met him once). I purchased a discounted gift certificate online for $125, good for 5 sessions. They met me and we really hit it off, I explained my situation, and they said they do my entire face and neck rather than the limited area on the gift terms. After the second time they said I could just keep coming, once per month, until the hair is gone. I pay $25 for the session and opt for the $15 numbing cream. This session passed was my twelfth, so one full year!

I currently live in the States in Florida, and really its not too bad here as far as transition goes (though I'd like to make it out west, maybe even to Hawaii). There are laser deals EVERYWHERE especially on these local discount websites they have here(I use "doubletakedeals.com")

As for Aussie clinics, I didn't know they aren't regulated. That seems weird huh?  I've seen a clinic in Melbourne and it was quite nice. Laser is simply popping up everywhere...I mean there was (is?) even a laser clinic in Geelong a good 45 minutes out of the city centre!  If you price a laser they are maybe $30000-$40000, so its a great business oppourtunity.

It's a growing industry, great for us trans women, but I would be very careful on who I let touch my face!
