Any other pinball players here?

Or arcade games in general? Or MAME (teach me!)?

I thoroughly enjoy the Wii and xBox Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection.

From it I started seeking out real pinball machines to play. Someday I'd like to own a machine. (But first I have to get rich enough to afford not only the machine but an outbuilding to put it in. My wife doesn't want it in the house; something about trying to be a writer with a noisy toy in the house.)

I'd love to own Williams Whirlwind, though I have my eye on (the much cheaper) Time Travel machine on the other side of the state.

I love pinball machines! Wish I could have all the quarters back, though. I like the old, old machines with drop down targets. Eight Ball Deluxe was a good semi modern machine. Great topic! Hugs, Devlyn

I remember the older pinball machines.  Each had a theme about real people and things, even though the names were not mentioned.  Beat Time had the Beatles as the theme as well as Spacelab with the NASA skylab station after the Apollo missions.  Quarters, you need quarters!  The sounds were electro-mechanical with the quality that's lacking with the tinny microprocessor controlled ones that followed.

I also only have experience with real pinball machines  :)  There were a few named after actual artists and things

When my step dad got into vending machines for awhile we owned a KISS pinball machine among a few others

He got tired of repairing the various machines (soda, candy, pinball etc.) and sold the business off

I still love (real) pinball machines  :)

I grew up around the following machines:
Black Knight (Williams) - this machine got me started.
Addams Family
Twilight Zone - my fave of all time *dreams of owning one* =(^.^)=
I was terrible at them, but was silly enough to keep throwing coins at them!

I haven't tried playing a virtual pinball machine - sadly for me, a simulation of a machine which I really played is never going to be a good substitute. :(
