Were there any instances of severe discrimination perpetrated against you?

I'm normally a very chill guy (or whatever since I haven't transitioned), but since a lot of people already know about about gender identity issues, I sometimes get a lot of hate from people who do not approve of the fact that I'm transgender, and my Fraternity can not always be there to back me up.

I don't really care when people make fun of my race but when people make fun of my sexual orientation, I just get really scared; after all, we have one of the highest murder rates in the country. Sometimes I feel like I really need to cry but tears won't come out (thank you testosterone), and I always carry a heavy switch blade but I don't like to fight.

I have a guy friend who I have a slight crush on who told me to "lick my ***, you're a ->-bleeped-<- aren't you?" I would just stare at him (think Rooney Mara as Lizbeth Salander), completely offended, almost in tears, and I told him in a completely serious manner, angry, ashamed, "Don't call me that. Just because I'm transgender, it doesnt mean I like that sort of stuff. it's gross". He apologized and promised to treat me to lunch. Yay.

But at other times, I'm legitimately scared. I'm short and skinny so I can't really fight them off, despite having the knife.

Were there any instances of severe discrimination perpetrated against you? How did you feel? How did you react? What happened?

I was told that I was not welcome in a religious-run women's homeless shelter in the middle of winter because "the bible is [their] textbook." (That's me in my avatar by the way)

I was made to sleep in the same quarters as men in a different homeless shelter because I was still "technically male" (That's me in my avatar by the way)
