So, I dislocated my shoulder at work last night..... and had to go to the ER. And it struck me....... that I would have to (for the first time) list off my meds... Oh well, life is fun, what's the worst that can happen, right?
So, as an excersize, since I really didn't have to list the MTF meds I suppose, i figured I'd do it anyway, because I'm not ashamed.
Since I'm a paramedic / firefighter, I go to this ER all the time, so I know most the nurses, but this one I didn't know. She asks me my meds, and I tell her... then comes the puzzled look and the question: "Why do you take these?", to which I casually say "because I'm changing gender.".
She was very sweet about it... and was inquisitive... and then said, and I quote: "I've seen it on a tv show, but I've never seen one before"..
And believe me when I say it was sooooooooooo innocent and sweet.... because of this, I had to restrain my incredibly smart ass comment of "Oh, you should go to the transgendered zoo... they keep us in cages and feed us late at night.".
I"ve never seen ONE before. I don't know, I got a good laugh out of it. I kind of felt right up there with bigfoot, the chupacabra, and the loch ness monster. I've never seen one of those either!
Well, fun enough I had to share. And since it was my first time giving my meds to someone, I'll never forget it!

And today, when following up with the work comp doctor, (with my hair in a high ponytail, cute jeans and shirt, but no makeup) the doc looks at my chart while walking in the door, (my name change isn't complete yet, so it's my male name) looks at my name then at me and totally stops... and mumbles... and says "uh, wait".. and looks at my chart again, then starts to leave the room, then takes a gamble and says ........"Brian??" LOL.. awesome. Thought he had the wrong room. Good compliment for me without make up I guess!
Anyway... I needed to laugh, so both of these helped. What other funny stories are out there?
