Oh my god oh my god oh my god Noooooooooooo!!!!! The internet is down again UUUUUrrrrrgggggggg!!!

I hate it when that happens. You have my sympathy.

I've been known to pull up outside of hotels to steal bandwidth when our connection is down.

As far as coffee goes, I grind and brew mine fresh every morning in my office. Made just the way I like it. Uhhhhhh  ;D Passion Blend from the Unseen Bean has been my coffee of the week this week.

;D ;D ;D I love to steal the internet. especially, when I have to use dial up and everyone is still on the phone. >:( >:( ;D ;D

for my coffee taste. I don't drink it. My new friends got me into drinking BAWLS.

Due to my intolerance of caffeine, I only have one when I miss a night of sleep.
and it does have a warning label on it.

I love Starbucks.  I usually get their iced mocca.  I just wish the price of their stock were much higher, considering the number of stores they have in every corner,  city, I mean!  >:D ;D :D

I have set up the network here where I work. Its a service we provide so anybody can get on. But one of our neighbors also has wireless and they sometimes accidentally "wander" onto our network so I blocked their MAC address. Maybe your mom's neighbor saw that another computer was on their system and blocked your MAC address. But then again, if they knew enough to block a MAC address you'd think they'd have locked the whole network.

When I go for coffee or many restaurants I usually patronize the ones with free internet since I'm too cheap to buy a subscription. Its one advantage our local coffee shops have over starbucks. The internet is free at the local cafes. (by local I means 35 miles away from our tiny burgh).

If Encryption is not on, they may have decided to filter by MAC address. A MAC address is a 6 octet hexadecimal number that is typically burned into your Network Interface Card. You can find MAC address spoofing software for wireless. I usually look for software of this nature at http://www.tucows.net.

Now you'll need to do some wireless sniffing to find the MAC addresses that the owner is using. Then, spoof that MAC address. But, you should only do it when the owner is not home using the computer with the MAC address you're spoofing.

Not sure what they're doing though. I would have added 128 bit encryption if I wanted to secure it AND filter by MAC address. In fact, I wouldn't even THINK about using wireless in a populated area without encrypting it. Although, keep in mind, using WEP as opposed to WPA will leave the owner vulnerable to AirSnort - http://airsnort.shmoo.com which can be used to 'calculate' lost encryption keys.

You should call your nieghbor and ask for the tech support department. lol.

Seriously though. Your neighbor may be happy to share thier internet connection if they KNOW who is using it. You may want to just ask. Maybe offer em 5 bucks to help pay for the monthyl connection fee. Could be a win-win. ;)

Or you could possibly be arrested for theft of services. It's a gamble. :o
