I found this from my old posts (which basically act as a diary for me lol):

QuoteI had top surgery 4 weeks ago and I have relatively full range-of-motion now.  The first two weeks though were difficult.  I was supposed to be able to drive a car by 2 weeks but it hurt too badly (steering and seat belt).  At 3 weeks I was able to drive around town, and now I don't have a problem with it.  Still can't drive long distances...

So I guess 3-4 weeks for me.

I had to take naps for a few weeks afterward. Let's see...I volunteered at Pride about two and a half weeks after surgery, and I was really wiped out because I worked both days and didn't get a nap either day. But I took naps for a little while after Pride.

I was very careful about reaching and stretching for a lot longer than most guys because I scar easily, and reaching felt funny. I was super careful about lifting and reaching for a couple of months. I probably could have been a lot less cautious.

I drove to my therapy appointment and men's group (both of which I considered necessities) five days after surgery, but I had to be really careful. A week would have been better. These were short drives, maybe twelve minutes one way. I wouldn't have wanted to go any farther.

I had a helluva time washing my hair for the first couple of weeks. The T makes it oily, so I really didn't want that to build up. Ick.

I started driving and going to classes after two weeks. By three weeks I could reach for things over my head if I didn't stretch too far, and I'd get a twinge of pain if I did stretch too far. I'm at 6 weeks today and I still can't quite sleep on my stomach with my arms up the way I'd like, but I'm essentially back to normal. I'd say I was pretty much recovered at four or five weeks.

I remember going to meet my friend in town who I hadnt seen in ages,at 11 days post op. I dont remember particularly feeling tired or in pain.
I was at work (which requires lifting) at 4 weeks, which I regret. Not because I was too sore, as I wasnt, just because I think it contributed to the widening of the scars.
So, Id say my recovery period was pretty quick.
Though Im aware there are some factors that can effect each persons healing. I was young (20), fit and active and a non smoker, these can all make a difference to your recovery time.
Though I didnt take it all as easy as I should have. I was abit TOO restless when recovering!

after 1 week I could go to school again, however I wasnt allowed to do exersice or move my arms too high.
first after 2 months I started to train on a little more serious level.

Nathan.

In less then a week I was able to walk around and I could lift my arms up enough to brush my hair but apart from that I didn't try anything strenuous because I didn't want to stretch the scars, but by a month I think I was fully able to do the basic stuff, I waited another month before going back to the gym.
