I am a gender, gender identity and national origins activist. So far I've been writing on the subject of gender and gender identity, and am starting to get involved for national origins justice. I see that people are still oblivious to the amount of pain and trial that we here, as immigrants and third gender or herma or women have to go through...Many seem to judge us by their own inapplicable standard of "right" and "wrong" as well as proproety...It is very difficult to live in such surrounding, because we are always judges as something either not ok or not ok enough or somehow defficient.
My goal is to educate the public on our issues and to assist those like me in having a better life, a part and due of their American dream.
I am looking to exchange info and experience with the likes, either from one of the categories or those who act out as well. People with organizational experience and advice are always welcome! Thank you all so much and looking forwrad to chatting with you! :)

Most awesome. Thank you for your response. Well, I would like to connect to immigration groups that work with people who are in the process of receiving their status. I find that the waiting time period of - ready? 12, 14, 20, or "some" 10 years is simply incomprehensible to reason and common sense. There needs to be increased staffing in the immigration office, various temporary measures for "pending" immigrants and perhaps even a different view on "illegal" immigrants. I am looking for information on the subject and groups that would assist me in putting together an educational package for folks to nibble on and ways for them to get involved. So, that's grassroots iinvolvement but I am also looking into involvement of the public office level as well. So then, two things: educational outreach and governmental officials involvement.
The second issue is gender. Women's roles, women's capacities - all that I've been researching and studying for some time now. I would like to contribute that knowledge in a way that can increase the awareness on the subject.
Three, would be gender identity. The biological gender and gender identity issues are connected, to me, and I would like to address the two together in general, though each particular moment may differ in its focus. For these two issues I guess I would need the same: contacts to create awareness and outreach for education and action at the grassroots level, as well as the same with govenmental officials.
Thank you for your help! :)

ok I have no internet at the moment and am sitting in a starbucks. I wont be here long but real quick WRT immigration, Richardson the Gov in New Mexico is yer man for that...I will do a little research into some immigration groups as well and get back to you on that.
WRT gender issues, please talk to Susan here. She can point you in the right direction for sure. A good place to start is her other website. I personally think the best thing any of us can do RIGHT NOW is support publicly Susan (Steve) Stanton in Largo. I thinlk it is high profile enough that with a mass group standing behind her we can make real things happen. By helping her we (the Gender issue) can share the media so to speak.

Thank you! We here are in NYC, can we still talk to gov from another state? I guess we could do work nationally...Thank you for your help and any suggestions, keep up the front and allow no passage of unfair and prejudiced treatment that steals so many young and innocent lives and talents away.

lol YES you can talk to a Gov in any state regardless of what state you are in. Immigration is a national issiue and NM's Richardson is the leader on the issue so it makes much more sense to begin networking with his office and go from there. I would bet if you called there and asked for referrals to other orgs wrt immigration they will provide you many contacts. When you call make it clear you are calling from NY and that although not a citizen of NM you are an American citizen looking to network for the issue and they will be happy to help.

I just want to say many people seem afraid to make calls and ask questions...don't be. While hearing a "no" is never desirable you cannot hope to hear a "yes" if you don't stick your neck out there and ask.

I also would like to use this an an opportunity for people to join me in my work, I need volunteers and people who can provide the support. Anything helps. I am not asking for money.
Also, I see hate of immigration connected to the hate of female-bodied. If anyone would like to speak on the subject or join in to work on that aspect, please do. Perhaps, even, immigration and women rights are not connected, but I have conneted them under the umbrella of "hate." If to hate immigrants in a country designed for those immigrants is irrational and wrong, to hate women for a set of breasts and a womb with a vagina, is even more wrong, precisely because not only EVERYONE ALIVE owes these aspects their existence, but also because people in female bodies are so much more than biologicla and zoological sexual sevant-slave creature: they are Homo Sapiens and are treated as a common dog or a pig. I believe ANY action is better than NO action. Therefore, I suggest if you are all fed up, why not act instead of sittign back and rationalizing? We are all busy, all have familes and jobs, but this is jsut one aspect of reality. The other is the underlying current of hate and inequality mentality that spills over hate for Jews, Japanese-Americans during WW2, lesbian hatred, trans hatred, immigrant hatred, and most importantly, a hatred of one half of humanity by another half of humanity. We have to work together to stop it. The contribution on your part could be writing a letter to your governmental official, joining NOW (its like $25 minimum for a whole YEAR! of membership), joing the philosophy club to learn how to think clearly and debate your point. Becoming friends with other women and instead of being jealous of them or fighting over some date, forging the bond of friendship. You could even read on the subject: Femining Mystique, Gyn/Ecology (Mary Dally), The Impratial Science (Bonnie B. Spanier), The harlot by the side of the road (Jonathan Kirsh), The Genisis of Justice (Allan Dershowitz), The Tree Of Knowledge (Fracisco Varelo and Maturana), Republic (Plato), The Original Cause 1 or The unseen role of denial (Ceanne de Rohan)
You could get involved by becoming educated, reaching out to the representatives, meeting with other women and talking, respecting your bodies, paying attention to your needs, not denying the facts, not engaging in sophistry, seeing things without the rose glasses, being brave in the face of adversity and teaching the younger women about their position in society and about things they could do to change it.
Just don't stay passive. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing" Edmund Burke, in his observation on struggle between the good and the evil. Or as I put it, the indifferent and the proactive.
