So I'm considering starting testosterone. Have been for a long time, but am just now seriously thinking about it. One concern I have is that I have a huge needle phobia. Like, I had to take two tranquilizers to get my blood drawn.
Gel might be an option for the short term. But I know injectable is cheaper and faster acting, so at some point I will probably want to take it. Anybody else struggle with this? How did you learn to deal?

I still can't deal with needles. I get mad anxiety the week of my shot.  I'm unable to give the injections to myself b/c I'm so terrified of needles. I look away every time the nurse gives me my injection, I can't watch the needle go in. I want to switch over to the gel or the other one (I forgot the name), the one that you use under the arm. But what helps me get though these injections, is just telling myself over and over, it's just a quick pinch and it's over.

I guess this is my cue to jump in here and shill for the compounded cream again. :P

The cream's only $40/month at Strohecker's, it's Androgel that's seriously expensive if you don't have insurance. Yeah, it's still more than the injectible T, but the extra $25/month or so may be worth it if you really hate needles.
I pay $10/month, but if I was terrified of needles $40 might not sound like too much.

Despite the tattoos and body piercings I have a hard time getting then needle to touch my skin. The shot doesn't really hurt, at least, it hurts less than when I guaged my ear and felt like nothing next to the pain of penicillin shots.

So, I have a cue. If I think about it, my instincts kick in and say "No! What are you doing? Injury is bad!". So, my friend counts me down, or I listen to a song and when it hits a certain part, I just do it. For some reason being given the "time" that I supposed to push the needle in helps. But, if I were seriously phobic of needles, I would probably just use a cream. I just tell myself that I am a cheap skate, and I know I wouldn't want to pay any more than I have to.

I'm not a HUGE fan of needles.  I mean I don't HATE them and I'm not terrified of them, but I don't love them either so I was a little worried about this as well.  Honestly though, don't think of it like any other type of needle you're used to; they are COMPLETELY different.  I got a 25g so it takes longer because the T is a thick oil so it takes longer to go through the smaller needle, but I honestly didn't even feel the needle go in our come out when my doctor did my 1st injection yesterday and I'm not at all worried about doing my own shots from here on out.

Good luck man.

This is completely unrelated but when I read this I thought "Damn, lol."

You're taking my quote out of context. I meant, if he had no friends to help him inject. Not, no friends at all.
