'' Gay student sues Ohio school district over T-shirt ''

A gay student whose high school prohibited him from wearing a T-shirt designed to urge tolerance of gays is suing the school, saying it's violating his freedom of expression rights.

If I was a friend of his I'd turn up in one, and try and get everyone else to as well.  Students are supposed to be rebellious!

That's how 'Pink Shirt Day' started over in New Zealand.  A student was bullied because he wore a pink shirt, so his mates all did too.  It's now an annual anti-bullying campaign, and i understand has spread to Canada too.

I love it... It was banned because it was "sexual in nature"

Yeah... The Rainbow Colored Jesus Fish suuuure is sexual, just look at it... laying there, being all... non-judgmental.

I should buy one of those shirts in support...

"Free speech" rights in public schools remain a controversial issue.  The US Supreme Court has fallen on both sides of the issue.

Student speech cases require a balancing of the legitimate educational objectives and need for school discipline of administrators against the First Amendment values served by extending speech rights of students.
