I've never been anywhere near it. Such things don't appeal to me in the slightest. This site is about as social as I get.

I have a fb, but I don't use it that much, have mostly family, a few real life friends and a few online friends on it.  I've avoided the timeline "upgrade" and no apps, hate those things.  I also keep it pretty private too, mostly to keep certain locals out of my online existence.

I'm addicted to Facebook. That, and text messaging, were the primary ways in which I communicated with my daughter while she was away at college. I could send her a text or post something on her FB page and she could respond when her schedule permitted.

I don't play games on FB, and most of the friends I have there are friends IRL, too. I like it because it's an easy way to communicate with others on their own time, especially when they don't live nearby.

I didn't like it for the longest time, but once my wife's family got on there, they were able to post pictures from their family history that she and I had never seen. Plus, we got some info about her family history and upcoming events (weddings, etc) that we would never have heard about.

I hate "timeline." I don't have it (decision was based on "you can't go back if you don't like it"). Everyone who has it tells me they hate it, and I didn't like the interaction when I viewed it.

That said, I do have two FB...one for the "man", one for me (Beth). I plan on using it like a history-O-blog during my transition, not so much for social stuff.

I'm on facebook.  I have a page for friends and family and then I have a page for professionals.

I use it to primarily communicate with my family since we are all spread out.  I also use it to set up events for the MS Rainbow Alliance and for general events with friends. It's just easier then having to keep it written down somewhere where I might lose it.

I've heard of folks using two profiles, 1 for professional and 1 for personal.

I had 2 profiles for a while, 1 under my legal name (David) and 1 for my real name (Connie). Eventually, I friended David from Connie and posted a coming-out note on my David page. Not long after that, I closed the David account.

I've found out about a number of BGLTQ events and organizations through Facebook, so I can't see myself quitting that site any time soon.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm addicted to this thread now.

Actually, I still don't have timeline, and neither do many of the folks I whose FB pages I visit.

I don't know if all profiles were required to go to it.  My friend one is a timeline, but I switched to it myself.  My professional one is still using the old set-up.

Originally, I heard that all pages would be converted to Timeline at the end of April. So, I'm a little surprised that mine wasn't automatically converted.

I must admit, the layout doesn't seem to be as user-friendly, but I won't be jumping ship even if I'm forced into Timeline. I do a lot of queer- and trans-related networking through FB.

I walk to and from work. That's 10 miles of walking every week, just commuting.

Not owning a car means it's my feet, my bike, or public transit whenever I go anywhere. I'm not worried about FB or any other online pastime making me sedentary.

Yes, I'm addicted. It's a great way to stay in the know with fam and friends. I don't add everybody and their momma though, just people I atually know.
