Two weeks ago I posted how I did my toe nails for the first time. Just thought I'd share I'm doing my finger nails right now.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I reuse to paint my nails in feminist anger grr! Seriously, I tried but I just don't like nail polish xD. However, I did trim my nails down and use some clear polish to strengthen them.

Congrats on starting to do your nails that's a huge step! My wife first started getting pedicures with me with a color polish because I encouraged her. That used to be our girl days together and she's grown really comfortable with this nail salon however they don't know she's transgendered... Now everytime we go she gets a mannicure done with her nails painted. Shee still gets uncomfortable every once in awhile she thinks everybody is staring at her nails.

Congratulations on doing your fingers!  8)

Will they be color-coordinated with the toes?    ;)

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

I miss having long nails.  But in my profession, they can be cause harm to my patients.  And they can harbor bacteria.

Plus my nails seem to be more brittle now.

My nails are not long at all. I'm kind of OCD about keeping them as short as possible.

I'm don't think I could grow them long. I tried but it was driving me crazy. I'm just going to have them manicured short.

Long nails definitely took some getting used to. Like, I had to re-learn how to put my contacts in and out (pinching them like normal is out of the question). Or doing fine work with your hands is sooo much harder (like tiny screws, or putting earrings in... or clasping a necklace closed......). Or even typing they can hit keys you don't want and things when they get too long.

Also, when you hit them / bend them against something accidentally...it hurts like crazy!

On the other hand.. they are pretty... and give great backscratches...and let me hold hot things without burning my fingers (i can just hold it on the nails). And, they are extremely feminine / draw attention (I get comments on my nails a lot).

Overall I have gotten used to them though :) Funny, because a year ago I was commenting on my friends long (fake) nails...and was like "how do you even type with those???" ... now my nails are longer than hers :P

I do a different color on my toenails each week and just do clear on my fingernails for now, I'm very lucky to have really strong nails that grow fast...but I get so upset when I break one grrrr

Since I am an artist I enjoy picking out fun new colors and my wife picks up new colors for me while she shops....she is the best! :)

Just a "California Girl" trying to enjoy each sunny day
