Hej, just to give you a brief background, I have been wearing mens or gender neutral clothes since I was old enough to choose them. I have always been aware of a kind of jealousy that I feel when I see other guys and sometimes I get mistaken for a guy. I like it when that happens although most of the time I am comfortable being me. The only time I feel different is 'that time of the month' which completely repulses me or if there is a suggestion to go swimming. I have a long term girlfriend who knows I can't stand to be in womens clothing but I have not yet told her how I feel about everything else.

I moved from England to Sweden to be with her and for the moment we are living with her parents. Her Dad's cousin is having a wedding and we are invited. It was made sure that I got a place too. But now I have just spoken to her father and the long and short of it was "have you got a dress?" "no, but I have trousers, suit jacket and a shirt, can I not wear that" "well, you see, the girls wear dresses and the boys wear suits..."

I just wanted to talk to some people (you guys) that I thought would understand why I feel so annoyed and frustrated. Thank you for your time and any help would be much appreciated.

I would decline the invitation.

I would very much like to. However it was decided that I would go when I wasn't around and therefore has already been RSVP'd. I appreciate the reply though.

You have three options: Suck it up and wear a dress, wear a suit even though it will cause drama, or don't go even if they have RSVP'd you (I mean really making choices for you without your consent?)

I went to my boyfriend's cousin's wedding in a nice suit :'P. I got some weird looks from everyone, but we both knew a dress just wasn't gonna happen XP. I would've preferred to be assaulted by a pack of elephants before wearing one of those God-awful garments ever again @_@. I understand it's their day and they deserve to be happy, but if their day is going to be ruined by one person showing up dressed in a way they don't like, then they got some ->-bleeped-<-ed-up priorities XP.
