The government has embarked on a statewide survey of aravanis- the transgenders - to go ahead with its plans to protect their welfare.

Revenue Divisional Officers, tahsildars and other revenue officials have been instructed to enumerate aravanis in every district.

Besides, the survey will also identify their basic problems, educational, economic and social status.

"Statewide" referring to Tamil Nadu.
