I actually had two interviews - back to back - with Target while pre-t.

I told them to call me "Cal"& they did for a few minutes when referring to me but went back to calling me by my birth name.

They later called two weeks later& said to clear my schedule for two days& to come down to the store - that they could not tell me why.
I went down to the store& they told me to take a seat..but later came and told me my paperwork wasn't ready - that they would call me another time.

Later that evening they called me while I was at my other job - telling me I did not get the job, they were not going to be able to hire me.
I felt pretty crappy, seeing how I had retail experience& I thought I made a great impression.

I'm glad I held onto my other job. I now have another job in addition to my original one. I am grateful I didn't get the Target one as they seemed less than professional. I hope you have a better experience with them.

I've never worked there, or any other retail store, but good luck!! :D I hope you get the job.

I don't know where everyone else had bad experience with them, but I was with them for almost 2 years. I'm stealth, but worked with a M2F and a couple openly gay dudes, no one gave a duece. I loved the people I worked with, but hated the politics, and ended up quitting. As far as the community of people though, it was a great atmosphere for anyone and everyone. And you watch a bunch of videos on no tolerance harassment for your training. I'd say they're pretty open.

The one I wrote of is in Southern California..
I haven't had that type of experience with any other jobs around here.
Maybe they the other applicants just made a better impression? Oh well..

interview today went decent enough to get another interview friday (because his boss wasnt here)
i live in a somewhat conservative area - more so theyre just not exposed to things (not necessarily conservative, just not educated on it)
the interviewer called me brayden (knowing my legal name is kimberley), but one of the ladies also called me she
if i get the job, when/how could i come out? i mean...braydens kinda...telling you already

My suggestion is to come out to HR, and tell them you are going to go by Brayden, male pronouns, etc.  Look up the company's policies on gender identity/expression.

hmm well thats odd, my mom works at target and I am probably going to be getting an interview scheduled sometime soon.  I always thought they were a pretty diverse company, where I am a lot of the target employees are covered in tattoos, have stretched ears etc, they hire deaf people, people with disabilities, and where my mom works there is a MTF transsexual who transitioned on the job.

not always, when I lived in the female dorms, I had everyone call me Elijah.  and when I told my RA I was uncomfortable living with all of the girls because I am trans, she said "oh my god, i didnt even know, I thought you were just a tom boy who went by a boys name!" some people are oblivious.

Congrats!  My sister worked for a Target in NC for a while and they were pretty open to hiring anybody.  She was telling me I need to get a job because of their stance on diversity. They have to be one of the most open about it, at least up here in MN where their corporate offices are.

I worked at target on the flow team for about a year, i cant complain in the least, while i was not out to my other employees at work, I did Do whatever I wanted, long purple and blonde hair, painted nails, pink wallet and phone, etc no one said anything, i went by the name I wanted (they did ask me if I was sure i wanted to go by that name a few times).

I think working at target was great, but like any large compqny ymmv because it is the individual staffs interpretations of rules and regulations but the woreing of company policy is very lgbt friendly.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?
