I. Can't. Stand. It!!! Once again I'm sorry but yes, it's another height thread      I'm actually to the point now where I'm considering limb lengthening and having them knock me out for a year so i don't have to deal with the pain during healing time. seriously!! i can't seem to accept myself being SHORT!  i'll always end up daydreaming about coming back as a muscular 5'10 stranger. No matter what you guys tell me and no matter how many times I visit the Fck Yeah Short Guys site i end up wanting to do something about my height. and yet everyone tells me i can't. knowing that i can do something about this is the only way i seem to get through all of it. and here i am looking at surgery because i don't think i'll ever accept myself. and it's so frustrating because i present as a girl at the moment and people are like "so what? wear heels, you're a girl." they don't understand! I don't think I'll ever accept myself, even if it could be worse! I'm so sick of feeling this way, I refuse to accept myself as short. I don't know what to do.

If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I am 5'4". really short for a guy but when I was male I had no trouble picking up girls...

For males, Cody, 5' 3" puts you in the 20th percentile.  That is small, but not abnormally so.  President James Madison was your height.

Risky surgery may not be the best answer for you.

HGH therapy might be possible, if your growth plates have not yet closed.

Im 5'5 and I do feel short too But what I did was when I went shopping one day I looked around and I noticed that there were heaps of girls my size or shorter! I also noticed some guys shorter than me, or not much taller. If you dont look at the tall people and look at the shorter people, you will notice that there are actually a lot. It makes me feel a little bit better

I think it is a confidence thing more than anything. We get lots of posts from 5' 9" to  6' plus girls who say they are too tall. Well most female models are a minimum of 5' 10" and they seem to be pretty well accepted, and for males, I think Tom Cruise is 5' 6" and he hasn't done to badly for himself, Leonardo De Caprico (? spelling) is also around the same height.

I remember a really bad joke. ' Why does that short guy attract all the great looking girls? His friend replies,'I think it is how he licks his eyebrows'

I'm 5'5 and quite short to every guy I know. but there are a few tricks I have found to get around it. Like the sort of clothes you ware, how you carry yourself and how you are built. It is a lot about working out what trick work for you and getting a second opinion on it.

There are the classic tricks such as buying shoes with a tick sole, there are even shoe lifts on the market from what I've heard. buying the right length jacket, the right colours ect. Your build can help a little, I feel better with a little bit of mussel on me with my hight, as (for me, I don't know how it would wok for anyone else) they seem to combat each other.

Also how you carry yourself I find ass a BIG difference, when walking at your full hight and confident you are automatically taller. Don't slump. If you begging to think of yourself as tall it can show. Basically act tall as f**k to be perceived tall as f**k.

Okay, I hardly ever say this (actually almost never) but seriously dude, you just have to get over it.  Limb lengthening is dangerous, HGH likely will not work for you.  If you don't want to wear lifts or hidden lift shoes, I don't know what else to tell you.

If you aren't already, I think you should see a professional about this.  Your self-esteem and confidence is obviously affected by your height (and your family's perception of shorter guys) and I think talking to an objective person would be a good idea.

I'm 5'4.5"...I felt/feel short as well...but then I got hired at a factory, and many many many of the guys there are my height or shorter so I don't feel so bad. I think it helps when your surrounded by people your height or shorter...
     
IDK who your comparing yourself to...but for me I always felt "uuhh" because every other guy I knew was way taller than me...but now that I've seen the world a little more I've realized people come in all shapes and sizes.

No one has ever commented on my height or my weight 230lbs. I'm a not a flubber whale but I am a chunky monkey. I guess being in the mens locker room at work has also gave me a big confidence boost...and the fact that at 5'4" people think I'm at least 21 and are shocked to find out I'm only 18.

or you could wear high hells as a guy,
I totally love shoes like that but its a matter of taste and what kinds of shoes you like, but many shoes can at least make you alittle taller compared to other shoes.

Cody, first off... calm down. There's nothing wrong with being short. I'm 5"4 and yeah, when I was in high school I use to wish I was taller but you just need to except who you are, and take confidence with each stride. And what I lost in height, I make up for in body mass / muscle.

I am so sorry you are having such a hard time. The replies you have recieved already have some excellent advice, and I dont want to just restate what has been said. I do have one idea that has not been mentioned. It is a little our there but, have you thought about moving to a place where you would be considered tall?

When I was like 14-15, I told myself I would never be trans because no woman would want to be with a short man. Well, I met my fiancee, and she is 5' 7"...I'm 5' 3" on a tall day lol Her sister is 6' tall! And her sister's girlfriend is a little taller. They were both college basketball players. Trust me, I'd love to be as tall as them. Hell, when I'm kissing my girl and we are by stairs, I sometimes make her stand at the bottom and I'll stand on a couple of steps lol It sucks but we laugh about it and deal with it. I have always wanted to be tall. I'm your age now and I've come to terms with it. I am with a woman who loves me for who I am. Not how tall I am. And hey, you know what they say. Big things come in small packages! lol just tell that to anyone who calls you short! Around my university campus, you see guys that are SUPER short. Some shorter than me. Men can be short. It doesn't make them less of a man.

I don't see why you would put yourself through such painful surgery. If you cannot find a man or a woman who could love you for who you are, then they aren't worth it.

You need to learn to love yourself. A penis doesn't make a man. Muscles don't make a man. A very awesome mustache doesn't make a man! And neither does height.

There are plenty of short guys out there - they are not portrayed as the ideal in the media, but if you've ever seen the Big Bang Theory, the actors that play Leonard and Howard are both around your height. And they are both definitely guys and both definitely not virgins in real life, so I always fail to see what you're so worried about. Sure, I wish I was taller too, but I think what you say might also be sort of disparaging to a lot of us who are also short, or perhaps, even shorter than you. I'm around your height and have no problem passing, but it's almost as if you're saying by posting these threads "if I'm not tall, I'll never be a man", so does that apply to everyone else too?

Honestly, it really irks me and I wish you'd start listening to people's advice, because, in my honest opinion, this is just so silly.

Maybe you refuse to take peoples' advice because the surgery is for you. Though it is for few people I imagine. I guess this is just one of those things. Like meta is okay for some guys, phallo surgery is good for others. And no surgery is perfectly fine for some FTM's.

I think JasonRX has a point. Maybe stop asking for advice because if you do keep posting the same thing, it means something. That no matter what anyone tells you, you are going to feel like you need this surgery. And even though I don't entirely like it, who are we to judge? So, do it if it's what your heart desires because no one else's comments seem to be making much of a difference.

Hey Cody I'm sorry your feeling bad about your height. I'm 4'10. I'm probably the shortest guy here. Why does the height thing bother you so much?

I dont know why it bothers you but my friend is exactly the same and when I asked he said it was because it makes him feel insecure around other men. He also said he's worried people may pick on him.

I am only ever so slightly taller then him ( im around 5'3/4) and I have never had anything said to me. There is also a cis guy at work who is exactly the same height as me. I figured since I cant make myself taller i'll aim for stockier so I work out now. Not just to feel good about myself but also to help me feel more secure around other guys.

If I could choose my build my ideal height would be 5'5 anyways because I am used to being short. I'd much rather be short and stocky then tall and lanky. Just a personal preference though.

I only wish I was 5'3 or 5'4...I stand at a mere 4'11. It does bug me, probably mainly because I was bullied extensively as a kid over my height (...I was also only 4'6 when I was 12). Women's views on men's height don't help me much, either. HOWEVER, I am hopeful that transitioning will open me up a bit more, and own who I AM. Sure, being a very short guy will probably nag at me a bit, but I agree with the confidence thing. When I am confident, I tend to forget about my height. I'm just me.

On the note of limb lengthening, I was talking about that with my mother and brother last night. And you know what? As cool as being a bit taller would be for those of us that our height bugs....we would be disproportionate afterwards. You lengthen the legs...now your arms are too short. In order to look proportionate then, you would have to lengthen arms, hands, feet, torso and spine. Doesn't sound so fun to be completely out of whack.
