Metalhead reporting in. I dress in black, I'm sick and twisted, I eat children, I rob graveyards, I sacrifice animals, I-... oh sorry, got a bit carried away there. I do dress in black though :P Admittedly am a bit twisted too..
Grew up during the most glorious era of Black Metal in Sweden, what can I say ;)

I spent a lot of time around the goths in high school and college, but metal will always be something that is deeply a part of me. The more extreme, the better; we live in a great time for the stuff I like :)

I guess I would consider myself in the goth circle. These days I dont really go to the goth clubs or shows too much anymore.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

I like metal, but most metalheads I've met and I don't see eye to eye. I've been told I'm goth because I like halloweeny stuff, The Addams Family, Creature Feature, etc, but the goths I've met and I don't get along either.
Although it does make me laugh that I have been told by a goth that it isn't halloween.
I am a nerd. Like everyone else. lol

Oh yeah, I'm definitely a nerd

There are so many cases of 'love the music/hate the fans'

You don't always have to look the part, just the attitude and the lifestyle in someone else is what attracts me.

I feel sorta bad saying this since my boyfriend isn't typically punk or grundge, he listens to some forms of rock though.
Love him to death, but there's plenty of stuff we dont see eye to eye on :P

"Goth", technically...Or I was.  Now I'm much more for Visual Kei, once I get the chance to afford the clothes. xD

I am a mix of them all :P. I am not sure where I belong LOL.

But I think that I am more of a rivethead than anything.

The old school Swedish Death Metal scene was so much cooler.
If you think so, good for you I guess? :P Black Metal is holy to me. Pure beauty.
Plus, my town has been a thick Black Metal nest, and I've seen some really great bands rise from here.

Quote from: Laura91 on June 02, 2012, 10:24:31 AMOne of these days I am going to win the Lotto, fly in a bunch of Japanese noise bands and have an all day noise fest downtown and scare the hell out of everyone. :D
I'm so bad about going to shows.  I've been near enough to DC for many years and I miss out on the big noise/experimental festival that is here every year (although I've caught a number of great bands otherwise, just not since getting my most recent job).

I've always been terrible at it, but that was one of the nice things about the goth club - imo everyone looks a bit silly.

I would say I'm "alternative". I don't much care for labels either but at one time I was really heavy into several music scenes and worked in that industry. I still do work with a lot of musicians in a round about way. I never did the tattoo, piercing thing but I have had my hair every style and color before. I did have a goth phase back when that was peaking in the late 80's (I tried really, really hard to look like Peter Murphy!). So basically I'd say that I never really wanted to be "normal" and fit in with the majority and to me, that's pretty much what "alternative" is all about.

Hey Wraith ... what's some of your fav black metal bands? I'd like to pick up some more of that stuff. Things I've liked have been Limbonic Art, Celebratum and Bloodthorn.

Definitely!  The tattoo and piercing staff at the shop we use, didn't even blink when I told them I was trans.  Our favorite artist even said, we understand what it is like to be looked at and ridiculed so they NEVER did that to others.

Depends on the individuals. I have heard that goths are supposed to be more accepting, but the reason I stopped hanging out with the ones I knew was how cruel they were to anyone different than them. Not saying all goths are like that, but like all groups, not everyone is the same.
