Yesterday Claire called to ask her doctor about some 'unusual side effects' that she started experiencing a week or two ago. When the doctor called her back she wanted Claire to come in immediately for blood work to check her Prolactin levels. I am not far enough into my training to know what that is so we went online and found only one thing that causes these levels to be heightened ... a pituitary gland tumor. Usually benign but a tumor non the less. Claire was at work when the doctor called so she couldnt go in but she will be going first thing monday morning to get her blood drawn and the test taken. I am in panic mode, so freaked out that I cant eat and couldnt sleep last night.  :'(
If any of you pray please send one up for her. If not crossed fingers and happy thoughts are welcomed as well...

If anyone knows of another thing that could cause high prolactin lvls please let me know so I can try to fixate on something else.....  ???
Someone must define a love greater than love...

Is she taking progesterone?  The body could produce Prolactin when it thinks it is pregnant.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

My doctor told me that if certain side effects arise we will have to make sure that it is not a tumor of the pituitary gland.
That is to say, in my case too high Prolactin levels most likely have nothing to do with the pituitary gland tumor but with the need for HRT  fine tuning, but to just be cautious the pituitary gland tumor shall be checked to be excluded as a possibility.

Another gal here had similar issues and her doc just adjusted her HRT. She is just fine now without any tumor on her pituitary gland!

It is understandably scary situation but like I said, it is most likely nothing other than the HRT issue that can be easily fixed.
Hang in there!
