Just yesterday I received my HRT medication for the first time, which had me quite giddy with excitement...but I'm curious what, if anything, I should expect to feel for the first few days or so. I've heard stories of people being able to /feel/ it the first time they take estrogen...but in my case, though it has only been 16 hours since I took the medication, I can't tell any difference whatsoever.

I'm on delestrogen (injections) and spiro, but both are relatively low doses to begin, of course. I'm simply curious if there is anything I should expect to feel or recognize! The only difference I've noticed is when I woke up this morning I had a ravenous hunger...whereas most mornings, I wake up mildly sick to my stomach and don't eat for hours. That, and my thigh where I injected feels like I got a nasty bruise from a punch or bump. :3

I don't believe I have (though it looks more detailed than most resources I've glanced at, so I'll surely give it a reading), though I s'pose I'd like to clarify what I was asking! I've read of and know of the general long-term effects, I was simply curious if there was anything to be /felt/ early on, be it physically or mentally. I've read a number of anecdotal stories of people feeling an oddness or mental cloudiness shortly after getting their first shots, for instance. While I clearly can't state as to the veracity or not of those stories, it simply had me curious as to if there should be anything noticeable about the time when first introducing estrogen in unexpected-by-the-body quantities. As I feel now, it's no different than if I were to take a couple ibuprofen...which I like to think is a good thing for lack of any odd effects, but has me wondering if I should be feeling something other than 'nothing at all'. :>

I can't really speak to the effects of injections, as I used the transdermal patches.  Hopefully, some of our other members will see your post.

I do know that there are sometimes reported psychological effects; some caused simply by the relief of actually beginning hrt (placebo effect).

There are many threads that address the issues concerning physical changes, as well.

It's not really likely that the estrogen will do much of anything to your mood, at first. I mean, it has to overcome your testosterone first of all - and that takes time! Depending on your dosing, that in itself could take up to a period of months.

Everything about HRT is subtle and happens over time. Everything is also variable - it's not even true that everyone gets significant breast development! Don't worry, though, it's more probable that you will get some. :P

im on injections aswell. only been about 3months about so far tho, havent noticed anything different as far as mood or emotions.  libido died fast. like really fast. but i dont mind that, it is quite welcomed for now. nipples got retardedly sore(to even shirt blowing in the wind) couple few days after my second shot(tho that has died down abit, to only being pushed on do they hurt) and they itch atm too, and as far as the skin, lol yes softer is easy way to put it. i find i pet myself often, even when i dont realize im doing it, its so soft. arm hair has softened too and is growing slower, used to shave every other day to get rid of it and now i kinda ignore till i feel like taking the time to do them. but thats me. and i hear everyone is different.

... I'm pretty sure I already can't do those things. If I don't start lifting weights when I start HRT I am going to be so screwed.

I guess the good news is that I'm not very likely to get drafted? I also do well with loud sounds. Or crowds. I heard that there are loud sounds and crowds in the military.

oh, and yes, still around the 3month mark, but past week, hormones started kicking my ass emotionally... >.> balling your eyes out for an 1hr over almost nothing, yes, really blows.. >.> while yes you may know of these issues and that you will have them, eventually. there really is no prepping for this one.
it just creeps up, hangs around for abit, then kicks your ass. = / feels better afterwards but gawd damn.. >.<

Well lets see. I started HRT on 21 Nov 2011. Which happens to be my Bday and just also happen to be the day I got an appt with the endo. Coincidence? In either case I have nothing to compare to because injections have been my only form of E. I'm 48 and for me injections have worked great. I wont say how much I inject but I will says its much less then what I have heard that other girls use. I also need very little Spiro. My skin is very soft now. My breasts are a full A cup and growing. My body fat is moving around.(which makes it very hard to loose weight mind you). My sense of smell is off the chart. I can smell men now big time!! And my emotions are right on the surface. I can cry on command pretty much. As far as I'm concerned I'm a very happy girl. Its what Ive waited for all my life. I dress full time and have since the first of the year. I'm poor and dont have much, but I'm happy for the first time in 48 years.
