I just found this great blog post online. Pay special attention to the interaction this person has with a Church Group, you will be shocked by what you hear in this post. It has opened my eyes even wider than before!

And if one is not a Christian I would suggest that they doubly mind their own business.
If religious groups are going to enter the political arena they will have to play by the same rules and they won't like that I am sure. Rules like not being tax-free, and being subject to anti-discrimination legislation.  Can't have it both ways.
