Now I think about it, mines was about 2-3 months too! I now realise two things - 1. I'm sticking to my healthy(ish) diet and 2. Time flies!

I had baked sweet potato fries this week, but those probably don't count.

But regular fires?  A long time.  Months.

My burger at Dukes came with fries, but I gave them to the kid.

Never had French Fries, I eat Chips every now and again.

French fries?! The audacity! The hubris!
They're Belgian fries.

I'm just saying.

Why do Americans call them french fries? No one else in the Universe does, as far as I know and my inter galactic travel is quite frequent.

Probably goes back to World War 1. Most of our army spoke French then. Easy mistake to make. But it's gone too far! Our fries are our pride!!

I believe "french fried potatoes" became popular in America as the "doughboys" of World War One returned from France in 1918-1919.

I haven't called them French fries for years and most folks I know just call them fries anymore

I tend to call them pan fried potatoes because that's how I make them  :)  slice up a microwaved potato and throw it in a pan with some olive oil and fry 'em up

I actually just made some for a dinner side earlier and added some black beans, onions and cheese

In the UK and Australia, you buy them from the 'fish and chip' shop. With vinegar and salt Mmmmmmmm. Or covered in gravy Mmmm again.
In Holland with mayonnaise sauce. In the USA with a rather unpleasant 'meat' patty?

I'll walk down to the beach with fish and chips for lunch. Mmmmm yet again.

I started using malt vinegar on my fries/chips, after picking up the habit in the UK in the 1980s.

These days, I don't often eat potatoes, because of their medium-high glycemic index.

If oven baked frozen CHIPS count, then 2 nights ago, unless I get any more hungry tonight.   :P  Lately I have been having them with gravy and Haloumi cheese in my version of Poutain. Nice.
