Unfortunately, with thegrowth of awareness comes the growth of homophobia, the fear of people who are homosexual. Homophobia is something that has stayed the same throughout generations, except that it has grown to include more people in this generation. I think many of my peers are so strongly homophobic because of the ideas that have been taught to them by their parents and older relatives. Fifty or so years ago, children were being told that boys don't cry and that girls play with dolls, not toy cars, so when raising their children 20 years later, they taught them the same thing.
