Ok, so last night was the craziest storm I've ever seen. Like opening to War of the Worlds kind of lightning storm. Anyway, I had a few friends over for dinner and as we were finishing up my building lost power during a storm. Instead of calling it quits and everyone going home, candles and glow sticks came out from hiding and we kept the conversation and the fun going. It kinda started devolving and wound up being a very late night, with music from iPods, poker (involving lots of cheating), and, I have no idea where this one came from because I'm definitely not that clever, but a bowling tourney with empty wine bottles I have as pins and a water polo ball. One of the best nights in ages.

Anyway, all of this got me thinking. What are your favorite things to do when the power's out?

Don't you JUST love those storms. A regular feature of hot Aussie summers. My poor daughter, who has a profound love of these storms is suffering from withdrawal symptoms, currently living in the UK. It became so bad that a cracker of a storm we had a few months ago, I recorded about 10 minutes of it and put it on FB for her to get her 'fix'

But yes when the lights go out, the candles go on and the board games come out. Or if I'm the only one home. I take a stroll round the neighbourhood. It's a completely different place without street lighting and everything dark

I'll usually play on my DS or PSP first. Then I'll go read something, like a book or a manga from the library. Maybe I'll draw a little and look over my past sketches. iPod's usually on the whole time.

And yes. I absolutely love storms; this one caused a lot of problems here though
