My mother was reading the paper this morning, and there was an article about a person who identifies as neither female nor male and how they are planning on top surgery etc.  She was reading out sections from it like how they never really identified as female, and she started talking about how that sounds a lot like me.

She then launched into a lecture about how it's a shame we categorize and label gender and that it's a spectrum like most things in life.  Eventually she said something about how I seem to fall on the other side of the spectrum and that it's important to love and express ourselves as who we are.

I was kind of shocked to say the least, so I didn't really say anything.  I'm planning on approaching her about the possibility of gender therapy this afternoon.  It's a huge relief to not have to have an awkward coming out talk.

Man, I feel so happy right now.  ;D

That's great news, Lee! I'm very happy for you. Your mum definitely sounds like she'd be accepting and supportive. Best of luck with the pursuit towards gender therapy. :)

Your mum sounds like she'd make a good gender therapist (not for you mind you). It's amazing how far some people come to understanding if given the chance. (I'm sorry others can't have your experience).

That is awesome Lee. Congrats. Let us know how your coming out to her goes. Wishing you the best. Wish my mom and siblings were that understanding.

Well, Dad came home early, so that conversation didn't happen.  I'll wait a couple of days until it's just her and I again.  Thanks for the support folks.  :)
