Soooooo. I have struggled with my weight for a long time even before releasing I was ftm. Now it's becoming an issue again as I feel I am being able to pass more. So I wanted to get some perspective on it and see some other people's opinions on how much you weight matters in passing.
In my personal opinion I think being skinner helps me, it reduces by chest size making it easier to bind. As well as reducing my hips. How does weight effect your passing guys?

I've never been overweight and have been pretty darn skinny most of my life.  I found that when I was really thin, I failed to pass most of the time.  I don't know if it was the bone structure in my face or what, but since I've gained a bit (and being on T helps), I pass 100% of the time now.

My recent weight gain has massively affected my passing....it all went to my hips and ass giving me a VERY "curvy" shape....binding my chest makes it even more obvious

I find it impossible to find shirts or jackets to fit, they end up either WAY too big on the shoulders or too small on the hips.

I used to be more or less the weight I need to be but for some reason have seriously begun packing it on. I still pass but it makes it a lot more difficult to bind when it all seems to go to the moobs. And most people wish fat went to their...um, chest. Gragh.

I've always been a little on fluffy size. I want to lose weight but I haven't got off my ass to do it yet. Anywhos, I think my weight helps me pass. My fat distribution gives be a box shape. Most of my fat is on my belly, with little on my hips or chest. For someone with xx chromosomes who is 5'5" and 230 and I have very small moobs. For a bio male there huge, but whatev. Being a fluffy makes it easier to hide my chest, cause fat guys have moobs.

I think if I lost weight it would help better tho, because I don't have prominent hip bones, my shoulders are wider than my hips, hell my rib cage is wider than my hipbones. I just got all that damn flubber. However I do have a LOT, LOT, LOT of fat on my butt checks. It's not that much really, but my butt sticks out like 3in.

to be brutal honest I feel fat people pass better than skinny people.
I know it might not allways be the caise but I guess your more exused to have wide hips and so when your fat, as you dont really when your skinny..

I am pretty skinny myself so on my upper body I am small Even when I train hard and gain mucles.. and for my hips they stick out horriblely.

In some ways it has helped me pass. I think it makes my chest a lot less noticeable. But, it tends to gather in the butt and thighs, which presents its own challenge.

It also makes it difficult to find clothes that fit. That's a physical issue, but also a psychological and confidence issue because it's hard to carry yourself with confidence when material is getting all bunched up. So all in all, I would say that it hinders passing.

Weight hasn't really done much of anything. Lost 50 lbs (might be 60 now?) and have been on T for over a year and a half.

I agree completely...I think it depends on where that fat is...for me yes it helps because when people look at me I have a belly which draws attention from my moobs. Before I came out as trans I still presented myself as male and some kid told me I just thought you were fat that's why you have moobs. However, If someone has all there fat on there chest or hips than I could see it hard to pass.

I think being overweight and having all the right fat in all the right places can make or break how people perceive you. Don't lie everyone stares at everyone's rolls. I'd rather you stare at my belly then my hips or chest.

I wish I could weigh in. I am about 40 pounds off of where I want to be and I have the Marilyn Monroe shape, so at this point being heavier has not helped me pass at all. My hips and waist always give me away unless I wear about three layers. I am hoping weight loss and muscle gain will affect it. In the pictures I have seen of guys who have been on T for a while, it seems the bigger guys pass better. If I was able to be happy with my weight where it is now and just focus on muscle, I would. But my weight has always been an issue for me.

I'm not the skinniest of dudes but I think I am only slightly overweight for my bodyshape and height.
I'm about 5'8 or 5'9, around 100kgs. Used to weigh more, and was slightly skeptical when my exercising hadn't
given me as much of a different as I had desired, but I have noticed my muscle tone change dramatically and
I am finding that I feel a lot healthier and stronger. My weight does still big me, but the more fat that is converted
to muscle, the better I find I feel, physically and psychologically.

I find myself passing a lot better/more often now and I'm not sure if that's my weight, voice, mannerism, etc. perhaps a mix of all? But when I was a bit heavier and not as far along on T, I had a horrible time passing. I think this may also be because when I was heavier, my chest seemed bigger. I have a pretty small chest and I can bind much easier now.

Everyone is different. :) I think a lot of the trick of weight and passing can be tackled with finding great clothes that fit the way that will give you a more masculine appearing shape. I also think it's a trial and error process with clothes.

I've noticed that some guys carry a lot of weight in their faces, so they have that fullness that makes them look more feminine. It's one more thing that makes it hard for them to be read as male.

Thanks for all the replies. It really does seem like it depends on your shape more than anything else. Unluckily for me I have always had a very classic hour glass shape. So I think the best be for me personally would be to try and lose a bit of weight and see if it helps reduce my hips and udders. Then try to gain a little muscle mass. See how I end up at the end of that. If anyone else had done that before me I would be great full to know how it worked for you.

THIS! for me this anyway lol

Pre-T i had a REALLY round fat face! like REALLY, post T along with weight loss, (lost around 40kg now) it feels like its ALL been coming off my face, but because the rest of me is fat, the fact that I'm too big to bind properly isn't as TERRIBLE because people expect to see some moobs on tubby/fat/obese/whatever dudes. Now my face looks tons harder, and my face passes better. :) i should do a comparison shot one of these days @_@

i think it depends on the body type but i think skinny guys pass better as less fat less more straight up and down body which is better for passing. i happen to be skinny and i pass all the time but my height and other stuff helps.

Traivs

back before i had my son I used to bind and dress like a guy though I wasnt out yet and i felt better but passed less even though i have big hips and stuff now i had the classic comic girl shape before huge ass and boobies and tiny waist now other than the freaking hips and rounder face I think i look more manly cause i am passing more. Could be wrong though.

I went from sickly-skinny to normal to overweight to normal-ish. The heavier I am the less I pass.

At the same time, having a belly does make me less self-conscious about whether or not my binder is fully effective. And being overweight makes it a little more normal for me to be a bit curvy.

I'm sorry! I lolled at your response though.

I've learned allot from this guys, thanks allot. It was something I really needed feedback on and I'll let you know how it does for me body wise. I was thinking of doing two pics of my body only, one of me now and one when I lose a little weight. seeing how it effects and get some feedback from you once again, if you don't mind.

It's all relative on body type.  Some fat guys pass better because their fat hides their curves, some fat guys pass better because they have no curves, some fat guys pass worse because their fat accentuates their curves.  Some skinny guys pass better because they have no curves, some skinny guys pass worse because they have curves.
