Management had the entire staff (700 people) go through Sexual Harassment Preventive training last summer.  As the issue of Gay and Transsexual harassment was discussed, and the training officer went into trans issues she looked straight at me at one point and said ...."If anyone here ever feels they need to talk about gay or transsexual accommodation please call us........".
Never thought I did or said anything that would have been considered Trans, or misinterpreted as gay, while at work.  Especially the way I looked then (cleaned up a bit now).

Didn't bother me anyway, since I retired within a month.  Just an odd thing to have someone I didn't really know direct towards me.  Maybe there are subconscious tells that I gave off, or I was just paranoid that day.   Oh well, done and overwith.

Just think about it how I go about it. Now I know this isn't the same thing, but it still kinda is related. I belong to a gaming community where I just recently came out as being trans. One of the moderators of the community told me privately that if anything ever happens that I feel offended or upset by that is related to who I am to tell them that they are always open to talk.

I think about it as being a unique person that they like, you give a different eye to everything and they like having you on the team. They don't want to scare you off because some people are immature about subjects they don't understand.

In my experience, most people have not had enough experience with pre-transition transgender people for it to even enter their mind that you might be one. However for 25 years I was frequently read as a gay man (perhaps in the closet) because 'feminine man=gay man' to many people, and no matter how much effort I made to pass as just a guy, things like my compassion, patience, generosity, listening skills, respect, appreciation for music and fashion, knowledge of girl stuff, pegged me as gender variant. In fact, my wife at first was sure I was gay; in her experience, straight men are just not that nice. Non-transgender straight men who are on the feminine side get the same thing.
