I made a leap of faith today. I called the employee hotline today, and got the contact information for a therapist. Its a starting point. What made me kinda jump for joy and cringe at the same time was that I had to say out loud that it was a gender issue I was calling about. It gave me the courage to contact a former co-worker and start asking questions. Its like, I finally allowed a tiny bit of water through the gate, and now they're trying to burst open. I feel like running full speed ahead now, but I know I need to take my time, organize my thoughts and plan my attack.

Just wanted to share a little bit of my success.

I often used to get myself worked up to the point of paralysis when facing a seemingly insurmountable task. But if you just slowly chip away at it, starting with the easy bits it is amazing how quickly it is over and done with.

Organizing your thoughts and taking a breather to come up with a plan of attack is a good idea. Just keep in mind that that plan is not etched in stone. As you take each baby step, getting more in touch with your feelings, and learn more about yourself things change.

Baby steps. Absolutely. Starting as a cd I was having an issue & a gg female friend said, "baby steps." Best advice I ever got and a rule I follow. Congrats on your "leap of faith," and that is huge at the moment & in your long journey it is your first "baby step." I like your analogy. A few years ago I was starting to come out to a few friends & my Sis about things I was learning, growing, the energy was driving me to want to talk to anyone that would listen. Good that you are able to vent your success.

Thank you for all the support I'm sitting outside the office in my car, an hour early waiting for the therapist to arrive. Have a nice big knot in my stomach that's for sure. Definately nervous

Baby steps is definitely the way to go, I'm glad you have chosen that method. I've seen too many that tried to run before they could walk and it only came back to bite them hard.

At times I got overwhelmed thinking of everything, then I realize it doesn't happen all at the same time. I too have just made that first step. I have my first appointment with a therapist this coming Tuesday. Looking forward and hoping things go well for myself, and you as well!
