This guy is a nutcase if ever there was one.

In the South there is an expression, "He needed killin."  I've mostly heard it applied to GLBT folks but in this case...no, I won't actually say that.  The First Amendment implies he has the right to be just as stupid as he possibly can.  But if this isn't hate speech I don't know what is.

While I have not viewed the clip in question (its late and my connection takes literally hours to download stuff so I am going to wait until tomorrow to actually view it). However, I am familiar with the Phelps clan and their oh so wonderful opinions. ::)....that sentence though....that speaks volumes. They wished that it had been "33,000 dead instead....and its Gods Wrath"????.....Wow....I will never be able  to understand how someone can have such a sick, twisted, and utterly diseased mind. People like that scare the hell out of me to be honest.

Aren't they part of the US civilization which they are condemming? I think that they should start building an ark.  That would at least keep them busy doing something else for a while.

A sickening and obscene message. I hadn't heard Phelps before.

The state of his heart seems most evident. We know it and so does God.

What these people need is to just be totally ignored.  I could only take a few minutes of his "sermon".  I truly have not the patience to listen to any more of it.  But it is clear that if they were ignored, they would have to find another purpose ;)

Cindi, these are the same people that protested at Matthew Shepard's funeral and were protesting at military funerals with signs saying the deceased was in hell for serving a government and country that allows GLBT people to exist.  This idiot is saying this because "we pick on his church and don't let them do what he wants to do without hindrance.

I.. Find it extremely hard to believe this is nót a hoax...

It's a hoax, right? Nobody is this bloody stupid, right? Right..?

You know what a sure sign somebody has been brainwashed by their church?

You can tell just by word usage.  They speak with words like "thou", "thy", add "eth" to the end of words, and use the words like "holy" and "faith" a disproportionately high number of times.  No person who is actually coming up with their own ideas speaks like this anymore.  To me, by talking like this, they are subtley inferring that they are full of **it.

Nope. This guy and his congregation are for real.  They will picket military funerals spouting that God is reaking vengance on us for our wicked ways and that the soldiers deserve to die.  They spew nothing but hatred wherever they go.  The only members of their incestuous throng are relatives of the foul mouthed reverend.  Let's ship him to Bagdad and let him spread his "word"!

They are aware that spewing that kind of stuff at a funeral generally makes another funeral in five day's waiting..?

This guy is unbelievable.  I thought I had heard it all.  He's got a lot of nerve mentioning God in the midst of that kind of hate-filled garbage.

By the way, just look up his name on you tube.  Couple of good videos of them running for their lives, windows getting broken in the van, etc.  And you should hear what he says about John Daly and Stephen Colbert.

I can't condone that. He talked in the video about things that had been done to them and the church. Frankly, and feel free to string me up by parts I'd rather not be strung up by, that's just wrong. I have as little respect for the people who did those things as I do for Phelps and his followers. Forget "taking the moral high ground", this should be a case of acting decently because it's the right thing to do.

I notice Phelps has moved from fundie to fanatic. Hurricane Katrina is god's way of punishing America for what it's doing to Phelps's church? Wow, that shows a level of hubris I haven't seen since... David Koresh? Jim Jones? I think this is the part where the fundies start backing away slowly. I also think this is the beginning of the figurative end for Phelps and his church.

By the way, did anybody else notice his "logo" of two spinning globes, one spinning backwards? I think that says all we need to know about him. ;)

I'm with Casey. I can't condone attacking someone or their property.

I hold to the belief that whosoever throws the first punch, or stone, or fires the first shot, is the one who is wrong.

I do disapprove of the weird reverend guy's message, but he looks like his own heart is going to kill him any minute. There is no need to feed his overtly skewed worldview.

I couldn't agree more.  Violence is just wrong, and will solve nothing.  But I am watching for the founding of Fredstown any time now.  Scary stuff.

No, I can assure you from personal experience that they are real.

And there's nothing quite so joyous as having to pass one of their protest lines.  As soon as they see you they get as personally insulting as they possibly can.  There's a special group in SoulForce that's trained to turn their backs on the Phelps people and form a line to shield the innocent from their vile talk.

You need to understand Phelps' tactics.  His people do whatever they can to provoke the people they are protesting against into a confrontation.  Then Phelps sues them for every cent they have.

Per chance did you see the subliminal messages in the background?

Did you also notice the cute child with the middle finger in the air?

Do people give donations to this type of preacher?

I feel asleep with the rhetoric before it finished.

People have found him to be a great help in fund-raising.  When you hear he is going to come and protest you, just get people to pledge a certain amount of money per minute that the protest continues.  Don't forget to send him a thank you card indicating the amount of money he raised for you.

Then Phelps is smarter than some of the people he's protesting against. He provokes, they attack, he can use thier attack to discredit them. That's the only way he can win and he knows it. I'm sure it can't be easy to listen to Phelps's crap, but true good guys aren't vandals.
