She looks at me with questions in her eyes.
Her eyebrow raises,
arched like a challenge waiting for me to respond.
The soundless words
heavy in the air between us,
while the ticking clock reminds me
my time is almost up.
A breath,
long and soft
escapes my lips
as weightless hands reach out to her,
pulling her to me.
Her head leans into mine,
forehead to forehead
we pause
as the well of emotion rises like bile
in our throats
choking off the words that should be said
Her head raises,
and she looks at me.
