Fellow Canadians who live in provinces where treatment for transgender people aren't covered, how much does testosterone cost and what do you have to do to get it?

I'm not from Canada, but can comment on cost. Just like on the MTF side, cost depends primarily on the means of delivery. Your endocrinologist or GP can help you determine what route is best for your body. Intramuscular injection is the least expensive (though it hurts): as little as $10 per month. Patch or gel can run you $120 and up per month. Oral is usually not recommended but some doctors use sublingual for some therapies.

P.S. If your endo puts you on IM, be sure to ask about a recommended compounding pharmacy. Often at a regular retail pharmacy it is special order and very expensive. Above price would be cost using a compound pharmacy.

HRT isn't generally "covered" in provinces that cover SRS. We have to apply to have HRT covered in Ontario. But you can still have your private insurance cover it...that's what I do until my HRT application is approved.

Thanks! Now to see what requirements there are... I should talk to my doctor about it.
