How much time can it take? My facial hair is very sparse, to the point you could easily count every hair individually, and they don't even get to connect themselves as a beard...


BTW , They told that electrolysis is obsolete, and they use the methods "Blend" and "Termolisis Flash". Anyways, they stop in August and don't resume work until September...

I'm interested in this myself. I had laser done many years ago and it removed a lot and it never came back. I do however have quiet a few gray and white left that I have grown tired of and I'm now planning to get rid of with electro. I have sent an e-mail to one of the few electrologists available where I live inquiring about removal rate pr. session. If anyone could tell me what would be a reasonable number of hairs removed in an hour that would be great. The charge around here is about 200USD per. hour, so unless she is really good I might actually be better off making the 10.000 mile round trip to e3000 every so often.

You might want to consider doing laser first. Laser can remove a lot of the dark hairs a lot faster and cheaper than electro. I had a lot of luck with laser and the dark hairs. Used the LightSheer diode laser.

It all comes to the density of your hair growth and the price a session of Electro or Laser.
I've done 10 laser sessions and it cleared most of my hairs. But few that remain growing back I had to do with electro. Not just gray or red but also some think and black. After my 6th laser session I was paying only half the original price, $125 at 50%, for a session. Electro cost $65 per hours in my area. Once I estimated that 2 hours of electro would clean more hairs than one laser session I ended the laser sessions and did another 4-5 one hour electro sessions. Blend method for electro is really good combination and depending on you pain threshold you can do fair amount of hairs in an hour. The higher your threshold for pain the higher setting can be dialed and it goes faster. I did not exactly count the hairs taken out in one hour but I'd say I can manage around 80 at the most. The pain threshold depends on various factors, like how stressed or in a hurry you are on the day of the session. Or in what mood are you that day. I also meditate during the sessions and that helps a lot.

I'm having a hard time estimating how many hairs I need to have removed or how many hours it will take, but if 80 pr. hour is about right that is a cost of 2,50$ pr. hair. It will probably be cheaper to go to e3000.

Oh, OK Maria, that makes a lot sense. Since you were talking in US$ I assumed you live within the US.
I hope your income is adjusted to the life expenses as well!

It is, but I'm in a bit of a slump at the moment, and if I can save money by traveling all the way to Dallas then I most certainly will. Also, I don't know if the electrologists here are any good or not so we'll see.

Someone I encountered last year went to a place in Chicago for e3000. I don't know the name of it but I remember she told me they sedate you and double team you for like 7 hours a day, then give you a day break and then again in for another 7 hours. I don't know for how may days do they repeat that nor what are the prices, but Chicago might be a little closer to Norway than Dallas. Chicago is an international air traffic hub so the tickets might be cheaper too. Unless, of course, that place is a lot more expensive than the one in Dallas.

That sounds very interesting. I will have to look into that. I've been to both Chicago and Dallas and I liked Chicago a lot more than Dallas anyway so that would be perfect.

I've had about 2 years of laser and I'm now just finishing 1 year of electro on my face. I'm about 90% complete.


As for electrolysis, I'd recommend blend (which combines galvanic electrolysis and thermolysis) on the face. Electrolysis uses DC current and thermolysis uses heat generated via HF radio waves to destroy the hair follicle. The blend method combines the best of both worlds. It's slower than flash thermolysis (which uses a very high heat setting at a very short timed pulse, less then a second), but more effective with a higher kill rate, especially on male facial hair. I'd only go for flash thermolysis if the electrologists is using an automated epilator (like the Apilus Platinum for example)... as no human with a footpedal is cable of doing this technique safely... although several electrologists I've been to will try to, if you let them. Do your research and only go to someone with several years experience.

Ewwwww, disgusting! Still from before I started to get fit. And that's the most I can do after one month and a half. I never managed to cover my face, so I hope it won't give me a lot of problems to remove it.

I could only find an electrolysis clinic, but maybe in the local LGBT community they will have more info on the matter.
