Did anybody else have certain goals/events that they planned and looked forward to post-top surgery? I'm having surgery on the 10th (6 days!); I decided that once I'm healed enough, I'm going to start training for a half-marathon (13 miles). Eventually, I'd like to do a triathlon, but I'm starting out small, of course. I'm excited about surgery but I know I'm going to bummed about the down time. I'm a cyclist and it's going to be brutal not being able to cycle for a while! I'm excited about training for the half-marathon, though.

Another thing I'm excited about is being able to comfortably play my saxophone again. It's not easy playing a wind instrument while binding.

I'm curious as to if anybody else had certain goals/events they planned for after surgery (maybe work out regimes, marathons, other sporting events?).

LOL Wow, now my "goals" seem lame.
Honestly the thing I was looking forward to the most is being able to walk around the house shirtless!! That and being able to be intimate with my fiancee without having to feel uncomfortable about my chest area. Like it will be the most amazing feeling in the world to have her touch my bare chest!!!!!!

That's not lame at all! I'm excited about being able to walk around shirtless as well. I'm a pretty active/outdoorsy person so I've had a lot of issues doing things because of binding (hiking, cycling, camping.. it all sucks when you have to bind). That's why I decided to plan something that I could work at after surgery.

I used to swim all the time when I was younger, but I can't bring myself to go to the beach yet. It'll be nice to swim again. And I am planning a "funeral" for my binders. I'm going to berate them, thank them, and give them away to someone who needs them. I may even write them a eulogy.

After top surgery I'm going to Anime Expo to celebrate.  I don't want to cosplay as a male while having to worry about boobs.  I will also increase my workout times since I like to workout shirtless and without a bra.  It's hard to get intense with it partly because the breasts are flying everywhere.

so far downtime for me hasn't been too bad.....the first week and a half yeah, i wasn't moving much, but the last few days i've been walking everyday. So, you might not have as bad of a downtime as you think!

Once I'm back to 100% i plan to work out a lot more and build muscle, maybe train for a 5k now that I think I'll be able to run without killing myself, get nipple piercings (depending on how my new nipples feel), and go shirtless at the beach and river. And tan my torso. Maybe get a tattoo. Possibly rule the world.

wheat thins are delicious

I really want to go on a week-long camping trip with my siblings.  Not having to worry about binding will be awesome.  I want to be able to just relax and be able to take my shirt off.  I want it to be a campsite that has a river/lake/some body of water so we can swim too.

well swimming, was my nr1, I really been longing for that for a very long time but waited untill surgery.
also running been more easy and general training. its hard too train with a binder on and without makes me dyshoria and so.

those are the main things, but theres sure also alot of other things like shopping clothes I couldnt wear before,
goes long walkes in sunshine where I pre-op would stay inside all day because it was too hot to walk out with a binder for a long walk.

getting a tattoo

going swimming, running, horseriding, tennis...gawd I can't wait to be able to do physical things without those bloody things flailing all over the place or my lungs being restricted from a binder

Getting a entire new TIGHT wardrobe that will cling to my lovely new man chest :D

*sigh* one day....one day

This kinda worries me, actually. I have mine pierced and a nice chest tattoo. I worry about how the surgery will affect them. I don't want to lose those piercings or my tat.

Haha, I've been saying the exact same thing. Now that I've had surgery, once I'm healed I never want to wear a ->-bleeped-<- again in my life. Work? Pft! School? Pft! Frost bite? Double pffttt!! If they have a problem they can deal with it! :D

Anyways, once I'm healed I'm really looking forward to getting back to the gym. I used to lift regularly and was into powerlifting. Then eventually, for a number of reasons, I just lifted with less and less frequency. One of those reasons was just hating  being in the gym while binding and just feeling like my chest became super obvious in every gym. Then I just kept feeling ->-bleeped-<-tier and ->-bleeped-<-tier about every shirt I owned and I feel like I stopped doing a lot of things I liked (or even leaving the house) in the last few years because of binding and my chest etc. So I really look forward to getting back to the weight room for the first time. And of course feeling like I can actually see the muscle on my chest ;D

I plan on getting more involved as far as volunteer work, as well, and just going to school happily and activities in general. Basically, I've been realising that this made me feel like ->-bleeped-<- doing a lot of every day things more than I ever realised. And now its like life in general is exciting all of a sudden lol

Oh and finally participate in a Warrior Dash lol... or a triathalon or something of the sort. I feel like there will be so much less to worry about.

Pretty much everything I want to do, except for one thing:

-Be shirtless in the rain

It just seems like it'd be a nice feeling.
