At about 3-4 weeks into HRT, I was an emotional mess.

A helpful reply email from a coworker had me in tears of happiness. Now, a little more than a year in, my emotions have for the most part stabilized. That said, I was a sensitive person before starting HRT and I'm even more so now.

Ok, I haven't started transition yet, but is this a real event? I just want to be prepared in case female hormones really do make you as emotional as people say they do...
I am deeply ashamed to say yes, this is a real event. Not one of my life's finer moments :embarrassed:

It happened about 3 or 4 months after I started hrt. This was the worst one of these unexpected moments. After a while the emotional outburst kind of developed more into an attitude. I was quiet bitchy for a while, but that settled down too.

Oh, and just to be clear. The person storming out crying was me, not the person that got soaked.

Well I'm glad to hear it's not permanent. Do you get those infrequent injections or daily pills? I heard that while monthly injections are convenient, a month's supply of hormones make you on edge for a few days.

I take estrogen, progesterone, and anti-androgen pills daily.

I have taken pills daily for about 2 1/2 years now.
Yes I am much more emotional now.
Once a month I have about 3 or 4 days when my emotions are seemingly out of control.
Last week it was that time of month and my GF was teasing me. I was happy and enjoying it and then all of a sudden I threw a box down and ran to the bathroom crying. Wow what a roller coaster ride
I ask some of my girl friends about it and they said, "You can't control your emotions during your period, you just live through them.
But most of the time it is so good to feel emotions. Before hormones I hid mine so deep inside that it was like I had none. I now can laugh and feel great. I cry when hurting and when others are hurting. I not only have compassion but I feel compassion. For me it opened up a wholed new world,
For once I feel like I am living instead of watching life go by.

When a friend who only knew you as a guy say's that you are now a pretty women.
The tears just rolled down my cheeks.

Today when a friend ask,"Have you ever felt so depressed that you just want to die?" When I said yes she said she was feeling like that right now. I could hardly hold my emotions at bay enought to comfort her.
The rest of the day I tear up everytime I think about her pain.

When you smashed an old gift from someone because you got pissed (and then more pissed and then supersad because you liked that gift and because you hurt someone else) =/

When your wife call you a bitch .

And, when you suddenly have a whole inbox full of messages from guys that wants to hook up with you  :o. I am not sure what it is but lately something must have happened in my face, but I cant understand what? I am not complaining though :).

For me its been emotions and boobies. I love the emotions I feel now. I even enjoy the crying once in a while. And the physical changes are the icing on the cake ;)

I know my hormones are working when

1.) I cuddle my teddy at night wishing he was a big strong man who will take care of me

2.) I get excited when a co worker brings her new born baby to the office.

3.)I fantasize about passionate love making with my dream man.

I am such a darn girl!
Hey come and check me out here!!........

Wow, I'm guilty of all of the above, and I haven't even started hormones yet...

It's similar for me, but I'd prefer a woman to a man.

Uffff. If I am going to be in a bigger emotional mess than I am now and have more sudden changes of mood, I don't know If HRT is a good idea for me. But since I'm being reworked to control those things...

Honestly, If one day I see a baby as something beautiful, I want to be put on a guillotine.

I was pretty reckless when I started out and was on a high dose right away. If you start out on a lower dose it will probably work out better. As with most others you will too have your moments of meltdown but you have to remember that you will have the most wonderful moments as well. Over all I would have to say I was a much happier person once on hrt. The positive far outweighed the negative.

I'm worried about the emotions too. I guess I can try a mind-over-matter thing. I agree with you on the baby front. I think they're cute, but beautiful is a long-shot and I don't think any amount of hormones will do anything to change that.

My babies are old enough to need contraception. And I'm old enough to coo and goo over other babies and hand them back when they make noise (or worse).

But, I'm the type who sees them as beautiful. I was like that before hormones, though.

When you start crying over a SMS  ??? I got one from an old friend of mine. It made me cry of joy. It never happened to me before thats for sure.

I like it :).

When your "cup(s) overfloweth" just after 2 years HRT, and some recent BA.

At least in SA it's no problem to go from C cups all the way to F cups! How ever soooo comforting to know this!

Not so sure I actually want all these 'hormone works'... @#$%^&

Axx
PS: there is of course always the idea of dieting, or?

When it is time to renew your yearly gym membership and one of the female personal trainers takes you to her office and tells/suggests you renew your membership as a female, and asks if you can use the female change room in future as the guys are getting embarrassed

And of course she is very sweet about it.

I float out of the gym and buy some new ultra fem training gear.

Oh a new need for fashion gear

When you have to re-evaluate the tv shows you like/watch because some of them will cause you to burst into tears now.
