Some babies are particularly grizzly. We all know that.

There's a baby next door to me. His parents are a teacher and a radiologist, I know they are good people.

This little man is about 1 year now. He's at that stage where he hasn't quite learnt and is screaming blue murder.

Has anyone ever managed to relax when a baby is crying? Non-stop!

Never mind. Another year or so.

That's my ArgHHHHH!

I have found that a small dose of Phenobarbital works wonders. 

Is the Phenobarbital for Spacial or the baby?

On a serious note, phenobarbitol, a barbiturate, was routinely prescribed for colicky babies in the US, back in the 1950s.  I had a cousin a little older than me who was drugged with it as a baby, and had drug problems most of his life, before dying of an OD.

That "little man" may grow up to be a beautiful woman one day! Luckily, only pensioners live next to me. I blast them with my piano all day. Nary a complaint. Possibly they're stone deaf. How about ear defenders?

One of two things:

Earplugs

Noise cancelling headphones

Earplugs or putting on some headphones is what I usually do whenever I have to deal with a crying baby.

Or I stuck them in front of the washer and turned it on.  I had to run the washer almost constantly when I was baby-sitting a colicky baby.  She loved the sound of the washer running.

There is a baby at the other side of the wall. When it is not crying, the wooden cradle makes constant creaking noises and since it is touching the wall, I can hear it every day, every night. With music, with earplugs, leaving the window open to counter it with noise.

I haven't been able to get a full night of sleep on a month.

I hate babies.

Babies are jerks.

"I hate babies." Well, sure, but how do you really feel?

I like babies, but I couldn't eat a whole one.

maybe the kid is bored and needs stimulating conversation and pastimes?

or maybe and more likely it is a proto-ADHD from being shoved in front of telly from the moment it was born.

When mine was little she had this particularly shrill happy scream that drove everybody crazy. Then lol one of the local mockingbirds added the exact sound to his vocal repertoire. So we got to hear it even after she outgrew it, and sometimes late at night.

At this moment? Like the biggest idiot that has ever walked on the face of Earth.

Eh, broken sleep makes us all ratty at times, don't fret.

Crying babies disturb me because I want to respond (and have no idea how to). Or they just annoy me, depending on how much sleep I've had or need.

Nah, it's only my "Coming out of closet" thread. Looks like somebody managed to get me out of another closet I did not want to see.


Babies are Ok, almost hypnotic. You never know what's on their mind, and when they start looking at you... there is no escape.
