Winter(howl)

Hi there!  So, I'm very new to this site and new to identifying myself as Androgyne/Genderqueer/Two-Spirit or whatever the most appropriate term is for it...I am still discovering these things.

I come here eager to meet others who feel they fit into the same descriptions to learn about their lives/feelings/struggles and hopefully learn more about myself in the process.

I've always identified as both genders, though when I was younger I tended to dress and act like boys and have more of them as friends.  I experienced a great deal of rejection from other girls (I am physically female) at that time and still don't have a large number of female friends.  I think I rejected a lot of the female stereotypes because they made me feel weaker or less of a 'real' person.  As I have become older I continued to have male traits but became far more comfortable with being physically female.  I began to realize that I wasn't one or the other, but really both.  It's been a confusing and frustrating journey so far that continues for me as I am finally beginning to actively explore my feelings on the subject.

I felt very welcomed in the general chat room and sincerely hope to make new friends who will help me along in this journey.  It's been hard alone and having no one that I ever really have spoken to in depth about this has been a real challenge for me.

Remaining ever hopeful...
Cheers,

Winter(Howl)   :D

Hi Cindy!

Very glad to be here!  Ugh, I almost envy you, it's HOT here in the Southern United States, though thankfully we've had lots of rain recently, hooray!  :D

I wish you warm clothing, fireplaces, and cocoa in abundance!
Cheers,

Hi Hun,

I have a lot of friends in the USA and the drought has been terrible. We will start to warm up soon and in Adelaide, where I live in South Australia we will start to hit 40-45C in late December to Jan and then follow through to March. We usually just have a week or so of the extreme heat and then a change, then it warms up again.
I hope you enjoy the site, join in to the talks and gossip, no one, absolutely no one minds people just going on to a thread and posting a thought or an opinion. That way you will also meet people and make friends, and that is what it is all about, making friends and having fun and people caring about each other.

It is a Moderated site so f you have any problems, just hit the report to a Mod button, or pm one of us and let us take care of the problem.

Hugs and welcome again

Cindy

Hi Winter ,

Another big Aussie welcome to Susan's family, from another of the Aussie sheila's, as Karen would frame us.   It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while. No chance of getting lonely here. There is always someone here, and Devlyn doesn't put the milk bottles out, and the cat in, till well after 3:00 pm, Aussie time. lord knows what time it is where she lives; somewhere near a tea party I've heard.

Don't get too rattled by labels. they can be sometimes misleading. If you just listen to your heart, you'll know who you are. Simple as that.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in and start talking.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Thanks so much everyone!  :)

I've felt nothing but acceptance and welcome here and it's really refreshing and exciting!

Cindy, we have had a lot of drought but more recently there have been lots of storms in the SE and it has made a HUGE difference.  Even outside today it's only 82F and that is a huge relief and welcome change!  There are BREEZES!!!  It's like I'm on another planet or something.   :P

Gennee, I have seen that, it's wonderful!

Catherine, I definitely like it here and also hope to stay awhile.  I'd really like to work more things out for myself and just since reading the articles and finding these forums, it feels like a weight is beginning to lift from my shoulders.  If all it took was those few things, I am ecstatic to see what kind peace the rest of my journey can bring me.  Honestly, just being able to talk about this at all to others who understand makes a more of a difference than I would have believed.  I am very grateful to have found these forums and to be here with all of you.
Cheers,

Winter(Howl)   :D

Hi Winter, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 7806  strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another andro.

Hi Winter, welcome from Boston! It's hot up here so you're not alone. I would have been here sooner, but I had to clean up after Catherine. Tea party, indeed! See you around, hugs, Devlyn

Ooo.  Interesting avatar, Winter!

Thank you!  :D  It's actually IN the avatar section and I was SUPER EXCITED to see it!!!  They're called Kodama!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kodama_(spirit)

It's from this brilliant animated film by director Hiro Miyasaki called Mononoke Hime, or Princess Mononoke and those little guys are nature spirits!  They actually only exist in healthy forest areas and I just felt it was SOOO fitting!  I was thrilled beyond words.  I have a t-shirt with these guys on it too.  I'm so glad you like it!  :)
Cheers,

Hey! That would be a first for Susan's. Can I stand around and watch please? That would be totally awesome.

Don't worry about the mess. Devlyn is good at cleaning up after everyone.  See 6 above.

Yeah; love and support for one another just seems to flow naturally here. Absolutely gorgeous family you are part of. And of course you help make it that way too.

Hi Winter, welcome from Merrie Englande :).

I love that film too - especially the Kodama and the Spirit of the Forest.

One of the great things about the mad throng that is the population of Susan's is that we're so diverse - you will find many people here with similar experiences to yours. I agree, don't be too quick to tie on labels, just let yourself unfurl gently :).

I am going to have to remember here it is, but we have a topic for comics, anime, and graphic novels.
