I was pretty tired for months after starting T. Adolescence takes energy, I guess.

It's been just over 3 months for me and I feel like I'm tired ALL of the time.  There are so many days that I come home from work and just want to sleep for like 3 hours.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has had this problem before.
I remember being like this and eventually it suddenly became impossible to function on my "normal" sleep schedule.
I don't really have as much as a problem as I did months ago, but I'm still a lot more than I used to be, especially if I end up not eating enough.

im on my fourth shot ( i take shots weekly) so i guess going on my 4th week as well.
at first, i was hungry like normal.
then, all of a sudden, i did not eat at all. in any circumstance. not because i didn't want to, but because i wasn't hungry.
then by shot 3, i couldn't stop eating. i wanted weird junk food i never eat ever.
i've been doing alot of cardio/weightlifting to try to help curb my appetite, and either a. not eating as much or b. if i feel like eating, ive been eating more fruits and veggies. more nutritious things.
alot of guys on here told me more protein so i've added a bit more meats to my diet as well.
i also went through the tired phase for the first week. now i find myself up at 3am working out. not because i feel as if i have to, but because i want to.
i was drinking 2-3 energy drinks pre- t.
now i drink none. if i drink any, its purely for the taste, not the energy.

i think everyone is different and it varies, but as of now,
i've noticed more emotional changes verses physical.
only physical I personally have noticed would be increase in energy/appetite.
my best friend told me this though:

"don't take this wrong. it's not as if i didn't look at you as masculine before, but something is definately changing in your face to make you more masculine. i can't pin point it as it's not SUPER noticeable. but to me, i can tell somethings different/changing"

i didn't take it wrong and it was flattering.
record yourself if you can everyday as i have and i rewatch them sometimes.

congrats on t friend<3

I haven't had the drop in energy but I completely lost my appetite for about a month. There were times when I had to force myself to eat. Even now my appetite isn't even close to what it used to be, but I don't really mind it all that much.

If you're working out so much and really want to add muscle, you should be taking in about a gram of protein to every lb you weigh. The easiest way to measure this is by buying a big bag of protein and making your own shakes and looking up how much protein you take in with regular foods. As an example, 1 egg is about 13 grams of protein.

The body can only process about 50 grams of protein at one time and I find it nearly impossible to take in more than that anyways, so space it out a bit.

Metabolism tends to change, sometimes drastically. Try to get some food in you, carrying snacks if you are starting to get sudden blood sugar spikes/crashes. Also make sure you are staying hydrated and keeping up with vitamins, especially trace minerals. It may be that the lethargy is your body trying to adjust and perhaps needing some fine-tuning with the "fuel" (that is, nutrition). And, like nontrans guys going through puberty, make sure you are getting enough sleep.

I Am Not A Dr, so check with medical professionals (etc for the free-internet-medical-advice disclaimers!), but a multi-vitamin can really help as the body starts to shift things around. And for muscle growth, you do need protein. Make sure that vitamins aren't the ones 'for women' which have extra iron, which is in general too much for guys on T.

Echoing Testo--when I started T, my GP warned me to not get supplements with iron in them.

Also, I found that I needed more sleep for quite some time early in transition.

Sorry to hijack a little bit but this peaked my interest....guys on T don't need as much iron? I've always had issues with iron deficiency and have to take supplements to stop myself getting anaemic
  •

Arch

Generally speaking, men tend to have much more iron in their blood than women. If you are anemic, I'm assuming that your doctor will monitor your iron levels, yes? I suppose you might even stop having those problems, but I'm no doctor. Could be that your body just doesn't process available iron, or something.

I'm in a weird situation. I am anemic and have been pretty much since I started my original puberty. But, I'm allergic iron supplements. I can only get iron through natural means. I'm not sure if T lowers your iron or increases it, but my doctor recommended dietary changes to just increase the overall amount of protein and iron in my diet.
