Going quickly bald, my usual woe. I don't know If I will be able to get a prescription for finasteride (Can't be sold or even purchased though internet), so...

Did the HRT stop your hair loss and allowed you to refill a bit or did it continue after starting? I'd rather cut my billiard balls than going bald...

Mine actually got worse until i went and had an orchy  then all stopped falling out..

From what, I am reading unless the DHT is blocked, it willl keep going on... and taking DHT conversion blockers is going to mean more testorene on the body.

What a pain. Still one month until I can talk with the dermathologist (if he wants to give me a finasteride prescription).

Mine stopped and somewhat reversed after going on hrt. I suspect it was the spiro that did the trick.

 Since testosterone converts to DHT, an elimination or very severe reduction in testosterone would therefore reduce or eliminate the DHT, thereby preventing hair loss.

From personal experience, I can say that my hair loss does not appear to have been furthered since starting HRT.

It certainly takes time for DHT to be diminished, but it does happen.

Finasteride can be bought online...

I had recession in the front corners before HRT. A year later, it's coming back slightly even though they say it's a spot that usually doesn't comes back. Otherwise my hair has gotten thicker even though I have never had an issue with MPB in any way (except the front corners).

Tried, but most safe sites have removed Spain (and several other european countries) from their shipping list very recently. In 2011 it could be obtained from at least two well known online pharmacies  and now they won't sell it.  Quite logical with the current crisis...

finastride has a lot of negative side affects , im sure normal hrt would stop balding

Until the last year you could always find somebody that would sell it to you without a prescription. Nowadays, with the new system (pharmacies and doctors linked though a common server) imposed by the crisis they won't take any risks. Forget also about rogaine, Retin-A, etc. I hope the dermatologist will listen to me, but if he says "accept yourself" I could shove the Marijaia up his arse (yes, when it comes to hair, i am pissed off THAT MUCH).

if a genetic woman was going bald , they would look into it more ........... such is society

  I had it stop with some reversals.  Some color returned and the remaining gray went from the severe coarse kind with the silver sparkle to a softer tan coloration with the original brown still in the back.

I finally could order dutasteride, from a more or reliable source, let's hope it works. Although I'm not sure about starting to use it. I have never had live problems before, but I could as for analysis, just in case.

What's is weird is the other product they have. Topic Spirolactone cream for hair? If it works better than minoxidil...

   Lets see if I can articulate this.......  When I started HRT I was 41. My hair pattern was basically "there", with the exception of the temples and minor thinning on the scalp.

As of 13 months on Spiro & Fin, my hair has stopped thinning and maybe thickened some! Although everything I have read says that you need to give it at least a year, to evaluate the effectiveness(Most say 15 months). At this point, to be honest, I am thinking of trying Dutasteride. But, I feel I sould give the "fin" a bit more time!

I know how it feels though! Your like, "I'll take some DHT blocker prior to HRT! That will be a "head start"! Trust me.... Just go for the "GOLD". Get on HRT(Legit/Safely) and things will change!

Not exactly. It is more like "I'm taking DHT blockers because soon I won't be able to hide it as I am doing now". Not really a pre-transition thing, just trying to keep what I have left.


Anyways, still on hold until I am contacted in September for my first therapy session.

All right, tomorrow I start with dutasteride. I am quite scared seeing people that had the opposite effect, but I need to slow down the MPB until I can progress with the theraphy. I just took some photos of my scalp and I am really scared. Far worse than I thought.

Too much estrogen can cause even more hairloss also I read.

for me I had what I like to call the manly rounded triangle on my head.  It took a few months, but I raised my hair one day and saw a ton of hair growing there.  I was afraid it would be gone forever!!!! but now its full of growing baby hairs.

I assume its temporary since for all intents and purposes HRT does not stop full hair loss but its still nice to have ^.^

Just came from the dermatologist. He had a look and wants to put me on the blocker as soon as possible. Since most of my loss dates from the last two years, I might recover it with a bit of luck. Blood tests for liver and kidneys this afternoon. Let's hope that pill of dutas does not mess it... That thing stays on the system for a long time. I did not have any hopes of that guy paying any attention to me and I started this morning.


Although it is odd. I started to lose scalp hair and the same all my body hair started to grow two years ago (my fingers did not have hair until the last november). A bit like a delayed puberty, let's hope I can catch it on time...

Don't worry about that too much, its just a sign of getting older.  Even cis woman contest with sometimes strange issues.

I have a feeling you will regrow hair but don't be afraid of wigs.

My electrologist has this cute short hair wig, and dress and as long as you do whats right for your face it will work out.   It looks real on her, and she looks en femme.  Never took blockers or hormones!

It is really surprising what a little experimentation will do to a face ^.^

My two brothers are as bald as a billiard ball. I believe I would have followed. I started HRT before any MPB started. No sign of MPB after 18 years HRT. I do have some general female thinning, but I've started iron supplements because my iron levels were quite low, in the range where hair loss starts occurring.

4 days on dutas, still no weird side effects. If I can thicken it again or stop the loss until HRT, I'll be more or less saved. , but... Let's hope it works, I'm having a good deal of shedding right now, and they say with dutas is massive. 3 months until I can see any results... I won't recover the temples, but if I can keep the rest and the scalp becomes less visible...

I'm not even 30, having to spend the rest of my life with a wig is not something I want. As usual. If only I had known five years ago istead of trying to accept it and give away on mi condemned hair...
