I spent years not doing so, and then had to deal with a family/death emergency.

now.

Is the time.

My workmates are already looking at me strangely.

My friends have all, but one, deserted me.

Why not.

Now is the time

Why not? Because it's still a huge step, even if the rest of your life is in shambles.
Then again, why? Because the need to take that step eventually becomes overwhelming, for reasons that vary from one person to another. If you must, then you must -- ultimately, it is that simple.
Don't try to cope with it alone, though.

thanks all for the responses.

I think I'm doomed. No one seems to be honest with me, though I've been honest with anyone who has been interested.

Most still hold their tongues and just look at me strangely.

Life is funny.

You can only be happy when you stop worrying about your state of happiness. Joy is in the moment, laughter is in the air, go out and catch some!

You'll make your own life.  You'll tear down barriers. Those who will choose to be friends will be better friends than you have ever had before.

Chin up!

When some guy looks at me funny at work , I figure it's him that has the problem.  I'm just me, no more no less.  It's not always easy,  pretty dam hard somedays, when we're just trying to figure out which end is up.   I use to care what others thought.  Now, well, if they have a problem with me, being me,  that's for them to sort out.  I am very happy with who I am and wanted this for gee, has it been 30-40 years.  It is possible to get to the point when life is good again.

If you want to offload in private or just chat about life and the universe, email me at goldwinggirl@gmail.com

Also, what Cindy said.  true friends, will be there no matter what,  I'm lucky to have two who are just the best.  Most will not understand at all.

In any event, take care and let us know How your doing.

Good luck with diving in. Going full-time was the best thing I ever did in my life. The first bit wasn't easy, and a bit nerve racking at times, but it got better day after day and over all it's been great. :)

And people who look at you weird, or anything like that, they aren't worth your time and there's so many other things to worry about then what others think.
