Do I need a Blood test before starting andro gel? I read in the packet that u need a blood test before starting andro gel. I was on the T  injections but b/c of work I can't get my shot today so my dr. prescribed me andro gel. Should I wait to get a blood test before starting andro gel?

Also, are the risks for taking the andro gel the same as taking the T injections? And I'm also worried that my acne will flare up b/c I'm switching from the T injections to andro gel. Does that happen?

I didn't need a blood test in my endo's opinion.

I find that my acne is a LOT better on androgen than it ever was before starting T at all. I think the more constant level of hormones has something to do with that. My doctor also told me that out of all his FTM patients, the only ones who have real trouble with acne are the ones on shots and the gel boys seem to avoid it all in all.

Other than that the risks are the same.
